I haven’t had ducks in two years, and previously I just used kiddie pools which required daily cleaning. I hated it. I plan to build a nice pond this time, with a pond liner, filter, and waterfall. However, I know ducks will be ducks I want to know what the very best way to filter and keep it clean would be.

Sounds to me like you need to move your feeder, or come up with a new one that eliminates the problem of scooping out.

Duckies are filter feeders. No matter how far it is moved they must have the water or cannot swallow. Mine run from the feed dish to the water with mouthfuls of food.

I want a filter too though, because draining it would mean waiting a very very long time for it to fill back up.

I do use a drain on mine.
Mine is just 50 gallons and drains quickly as well as fills quickly.

I recommend having one installed in the event your other system fails to operate for any reason.

Ducks seem to LOVE putting rocks, sticks, leaves, mulch, feathers and more in the pond. 🙄 It's like a weird contest lol.
