Kentucky people

Our biggest problem has been with raccoons (when we lived in a suburb in Lexington) and a neighbor's dogs. We got our own dogs and the neighbor's dogs stay away.

Opossums are pretty cool creatures, actually. They are marsupials which is pretty neat. http://opossum.org/ I don't think they eat chickens, just the eggs.

We have had opossums attack a few of our chickens. If they are hungry enough I guess. :0(.

Anyone in KY going to have EE's olive eggers, or Polish chicks? I can only find the EE's in the local stores and they go in about a minute. I can only handle hens, as I have 2 accidental roo's. I thought someone on this forum said they had them in the fall. If I can't find them, the hatcheries do not seem to have them available until June, and I am impatient :).

I have a few EE eggs in the bator due the 28th. Only set 4, but so far they look to being doing well. I'm in Hardinsburg, ky

I am right by you!! Down the road on 259. Interested in selling 2 EE hens?

I won't know what sex they r when they hatch. I'd be interested in selling them to u though. That's y I hatch them. Lol U would probably have to brood them about 4-6 weeks before u could tell for sure. I have 2 -12 day olds I'm brooding now, that I purchased for myself and I still cannot tell for sure. Usually 3-4 weeks before u can. :/ I'm also hatching turkey poults and buff Orpington if u r interested.

Let me know if you get any hens! I may also be interested in buff Orps; I have 2 of those and they are my favorites. Thanks!

I don't usually have them long enough to sex them. Lol They sell pretty quick! Have 18 BO eggs in the bator, for March 28th hatch, and 12 are sold already. 10 more just went in Friday

We plan to have some! I just popped 'em in today. We are raising them mainly for us for eggs, but are looking to sell a few out of each batch to help cover the cost of our incubator. We will have EE's (all of the hens we bred lay green eggs, but I don't know what kind of genes the EE roo has in him). We will also have Black Copper Marans crossed with the EE roo, so I guess maybe olive eggers or still dark brown? And we'll have Speckled Sussex.

Here's our blog post from today, with a picture of our eggs in the incubator:

I read on here, i think, that someone in ky breeds Australorps. I have someone in one of my other chicken groops that is looking to get some from a local breeder. Anyone have any info where or who this person is?
Hi, we are going to later this spring. If they are serious, we'll be happy to hatch some out for your friend in one of our batches. We could even do a black sex link of a Black Australorp crossed with a Barred Rock if they want sexed day old chicks. Otherwise it would be straight run chicks or pullets old enough that you can tell the sex.

If they are interested, they can contact through our website: http://www.rosewellfarm.com/
