Oh I forgot you had a pack of hungry boys to deal with!

If they are like my nephews they have hollow legs and are never filled up!

So I won't report you to Santa, ....this time

Guess I'll just have to settle for a good ol PB&J sandwich to tide me over.

Those are cute little fluffbutts, what kind are they?

Well, Jon is still full from the party, but he will be over before morning, I'm sure.

The chicks are Buff Orpingtons. I had bought 12 eggs - got shipped 14 eggs, and only these two hatched. I figure they got too cold in transit.

They are the prettiest color - the pics don't do them justice. I hope they are both hens, since I don't need anymore roos, and if either are roos, they'll be dinner.

Sorry to hear about the small hatch. I received 12 BO eggs from a lady in Michigan this spring. They were set in an egg carton, packed with sawdust in the carton, and newspaper in the box.
One was broken, and none hatched. I don't know if it was the BO's not being fetile, poor packing, the sawdust being poison to the eggs (several had stains) , or rough handling by the PO. But it wasn't the temp.

Ok. I can usually figure anything out but everything I have tried has yet to work. I am trying to add pictures to "my page". But I cant get anything to work. I have uploaded the pictures to byc. I go to edit the page and click on the insert image. All I get is the little picture square. Can anyone help?

Go to 'my page' and click on 'edit my page'. When the box comes up, you need to click on the icon in the top part that has a tree picture in it. When you hover over this icon, it will say 'edit/change images' or something of that sort. then you add the URL of the image and voila!

The stupid wind knocked that darn tractor over. The one that has Cris's ugly silkie roo and dad's little banty roos that he decided to keep.
barnie.gif

The 'bullies' were all trying to fight the silkie, and I haven't seen the others. I haven't been out there looking, but I am assuming they are in the building, cause they are not in the yard. Hopefully the 'bullies' won't traumatize Brutus too badly before night, cause I doubt I can catch him. I just hope he goes back in his tractor later. Or at least goes in with the other silkies. That would be ok. Don't you just love our winter weather?

Well, I ended up getting the last three white rocks Shelley's dad had. Poor girls
lau.gif
I opened the bin in the coop, and two of them refused to get out of the bin, I had to shove them out. They were so freaked out - must have been me singing along in the truck to the Christmas Carols
lau.gif
- they are scarred for life, now.

That gives me 4 white rocks, total, so I don't need anymore of those for the flock. Now I just need some Delaware pullets.

My fan came today, so I can put the hatcher back together with the new fan and see how it does - not that I'll need it until spring (I say now...) but I'd like to have it all set before I do need it.

Well, now I have to go out and re-cover the baler (that we covered three weeks ago) because the tarp came off in tha big wind. I knew we needed stronger rope (not the chalk line string he used

).

See ya all later -

Spring
Hopefully a little spotted one.
big_smile.png

The spotted ones usually bring a lot more cash - I've been looking for a reasonably priced spotted for awhile - cheapest I've seen is 300 bucks.

Mama is out of a spot parent (her sisters are both spotted) even though she is dun colored, and Butters (her last baby) is a buttercream color, with some white on her ankles. The baby that Mama will have come spring might be spotted, she is bred back to a spotted jack (I hope it's spotted, and a girl would be nice!!).

Now, my neighbor has his two jennies bred to a spotted jack, too - so I may try to get one off him if it is spotted, (or if both are spotted, I'll give ya a head's up on the other one
wink.png
) I got Mojo and Juju off him - I only paid 100 bucks for the pair of them, so he is reasonable. I'm sure he'd charge more for spotted, though, but not too much, I would think. I have no idea when his are due, though, so we'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

I already have two jacks, though, so I really want a spotted jenny, instead of a jack - but I'd take a spotted jack, and sell Juju if I had to. I can't sell Blackjack (not that I would want to) Hubby would divorce me if I did
lau.gif
so it would have to be Juju to go. Blackjack is hubby's little buddy.

You should check out my pics of the "other critters" page, I have all the donkey pics up there - and Butters will absolutely melt your heart.
She is named Butters because when I first saw her I said she looked like a fluffy spoonful of peanut butter - so I started calling her Nutter Butter, which turned into just Butters
lau.gif
She was so small we just picked her up and put her into the back of the truck. Mama, however, was another story to get loaded
lau.gif
- she wasn't quite so easy.

Oh, Shelley ... did you see this ?

eggnog recipe without eggs
big_smile.png
I thought you might want it.

Oh, and right when I decide no more incubating - Yes, Miss Piggy is in full blown Broody mode
sad.png

She nearly took my hand off today when I tried to get the eggs out from under her, and I shooed her off the nest (pried her off, is more like it) so she just went and got into another nest - minus eggs, but refused to leave anyway.

Why can't they go broody when I NEED them to?
lau.gif

Well, I guess if she's gonna raise them, I don't mind her hatching them. But what should I put under her? I'm not gonna have any shipped - too cold for that, which means either from Shelly or Cindy - where I can pick them up myself. Or from my own hens, but I don't want certain of them (like Old Biddy, she's a new hampshire red, or Oprah, who is a black leghorn).

I would take another Miss Piggy, I think she is a red sexlink of some sort, but not sure what the chick would turn out like, with George as Daddy
lau.gif
- I know that Jr. is a freak (both personality and looks
lau.gif
), but then, her mother is half banty, and is sort of a freak (just personality, she is actually a pretty hen), also.

Does anyone really close by have some good eggs for me?
wink.png
I'm looking for large breed, preferably for the meaty project, but will take cochin eggs, also. Delaware eggs would be the BOMB!! yeah, like I'm gonna get any of those near me
sad.png

Maybe if the ladies in Speckles coop lay any I'll stick those under her. I have two laying - not sure if any of the others will lay for awhile, since they just got here today. They'll be fathered by Shelley's dad's roos, still, but what the heck, they'll do ok.
