The only eggs I have that are available right now are Bertha's (mixed with OEGB red pyle) and that white cochin mix's. Her mates are whomever catches her the fastest, but she hangs out with Charlie most of the time. Dad's bantam EE is still laying, if I can find them, and my sebright mix hen is as well, but I doubt hers are fertile, she just started laying again. Other than that there are dad's hens eggs, but you have your own assortment of those at your house with those hens! You shouldn't have any trouble getting enough from your birds, and that way if they don't hatch, you aren't out but what? 75 cents?

Save-a-Lot has heavy cream, so I'm sure everyone else does, too.

I've bought it at S-a-L for making Icecream last summer.

I might try it, too, the boys love eggnog, but I hate the idea of drinking raw eggs. just creeps me out.

Howdy youall; it is starting to sleet here so I came home and thought I'd check up on you all.

I spent the day working on a pen inside my second coop that I could put my roos. They are becomming a nusience to my hens. I may need to cull one, but I still have a roo in my refridge still.

I'm afraid that if I put them together in a smaller space with no place to hide that they will bloody each other up and pull feathers. But I guess better them than my hens. altho I noticed a couple of times the hens came up and squatted for one roo.

Something has to give soon.

I bought some Flock raiser @ $15.75 a bag. Sounds expensive... but then scratch cost $11.95 a bag. 100# of #2 oats costs $24.xx. and a bale of alfalpha cost $11.50!

Those prices don't seem correct. What are the prices down yourealls way?

Hey...I've been playing hide n seek....Hid so well ya'll couldn't find me...NOT IT!!!!

Meri, my Australorp Sheila and Raoul have been getting romantic and her eggs are fertile and large. AND I've got this last batch of eggs in the hatcher right now because I didn't have room for them in the bator. Wish I knew you had a broody you could have given her some of these. Wonder if I could keep them warm for an hour? Can started eggs be transported?

Shelley and Meri, I'll be headin over your way Sat or Sun to do some drop offs and pick up. Gotta get that barn over there to you and pick up BC. Thought about having you guys meet me at Sano Friday night. I've never been there.

We will have to get Meri a LOA, since hubby don't trust her to go by herself

Flock raiser or chick start-n-grow is about 13.25 for #50. Scratch I'm not sure about, it was about the same last time I got it, so now I get cracked corn. The last time I bought a bale of hay (timothy, I think), it was $7, again I think. Oats I've never bought. I usually just get start-n-grow for the chickens and chicks, flock raiser for the quails, ducks, and some chickens, and cracked corn as a morning and afternoon warm-up.

I've heard rumors that some people have shipped 10 day incubated eggs and they hatched out. I've never tried anything like that but I have been told that as long as the eggs don't get too cool that they will hatch out.

If you have one of those microwavable heat pads you might be able to put one in a box with insulation on top and then the eggs to keep them warm.

Or, If you don't forget, you could put them inside your coat next to your skin. Forget and you have yourself a sticky situation!
