Ok, cool, call me from Shelley's and we'll be in town at about the same time. Shelley's is about the same distance the other side of town as I am from my side of town. Well, she's a little closer, but I drive pretty fast, usually, so I'll meet ya at about the same time

Ms. Lewis Rich :

Fr Chuck ya there?

The girls are now planning what sounds like a fun road trip, lunch egg swapping,.

I was not invited . How about you?

Next time I have a party, guess who is not invited!!!!!!!!!!!!
K

No I wasn't invited either, but that's okay, I'm not driving in this mess at the moment anyway, unless it's an emergency. I'll pass on the road trip this time, but thanks for the thought.

Shelly,

My first BLRW Bantam is due to hatch this weekend, just put another egg in 2 days ago. Im going to hatch every one they lay this winter been getting like 1 egg a week.

I will keep 4 or 5 pullets, you and Cindy can have the rest.

I hope they hatch out okay for you. I'm still waiting on the eggs in the bator that Flowerpot gave me. I don't think I'll have much success with them though. I've tried candling them, but I can't really tell if they are developing or not. I guess I need a stronger light or something.

By the way, any word on those 10 acres you put the bid on? I hope you get it.

Thanks so much!! Birds are so much easier to deal with than eggs this time of year!!

Fr Chuck,

I usually candle at 6 or 7 days, I have a candler really bright , I usually see veins then, but wait until the next time I candleat about 14 days before I kick them out.

Still bidding on the property, we are getting close to what will make everyone happy soon, I hope.

If I could have found a good English Budgie breeder a year ago, when I quit smoking and needed a hobby. I would have them in my basement instead of chickens!! I found a breeder who had shown Bantam Cochins with his Father for over 50 years and were retiring, I asked him to send me the best birds he had, they are truly beautiful, I was just in the right place at the right time.

Are you showing your budgies? Are any on eggs?

After the holidays though we will have to all do something. And I like the 2 drink idea. Lets see where could we go? Somerset is dry. Danville is wet. Richmond is wet.
I just cant wait.

My problem is that I can't really tell if they are developing properly or if they are infertile or something else is happening. I guess I need to really make something that will work better than what I have been using.

At the moment I am not showing the birds as what I have right now are my breeders that I am using as foundation stock. I have four pairs. Australian Greys, Skyblues, Dutch Pied Light Green, Cinnamon Light Green, Opaline Cinnamon SkyBlue and Cobalt. I have one more pair coming from someone here locally.

None of my pairs are on eggs at the moment, I have to rework my breeding set-up for them . And I have to build them some flight cages so that they can get some more exercise.

Well, I'm home - I'm sure Shelley and Cindy aren't yet.

I put the eggs under Miss Piggy, and lo and behold, she has a good 6 eggs under her already

Not sure where she scammed them from, I only put 3 under her, myself.

I'll have to put a cage in there, and move her into it, so I can keep the other girls from laying eggs in her nest. That way I can tell what eggs she does have.

Cindy, how many eggs did you give me? I noticed they were marked, but I didn't count, I wanted to get them under her as soon as possible.

When I move her tomorrow I'll put the marked eggs and a couple others under there, I don't want her to have so many she can't cover them. But she was happy to get those eggs, and made sure she pushed every one of them deep underneath her

, I could hear her clucking/grumbling happily as she was shoving eggs. I think that silly hen would take all the eggs I would give her if she could figure a way to fit them underneath her.

That ought to be a colorful little bunch she's hatching out there

Hey Meri,
Don't move her just yet, she may leave the nest. Just take a pencil and mark the eggs with an 'X' so you know which ones go in there and which don't. Then if she needs to be caged, you can do it after her eggs hatch.

Oh, and for how many they can set, My little red pyle OEGB hen that I had gotten last summer had 15 chicks with her, that she had hatched all by herself! So Miss Piggy could probably set as many as you wanted to put under her! I wouldn't do more than what you have though!
