That truly sucks!!

I'm glad it is supposed to start to warm up tomorrow afternoon - one more night of this. I hope the duckies are still ok tonight. They came through ok last night, but I am so tempted to put them into the coop tonight, after being outside in the cold all day.

I noticed that Geroge and Mr. Speckles both look like they have a little frost bite on their combs, I can only imagine what it is doing to the little duckies feet. I am hoping their combs were just a little purple from cold, and it isn't frost bite.

I'm sorry ya lost the birds

The duckys will fair 100% better than chickens anyday...They are built for this. I've even read about them sleeping out in the snow.

glad to hear that - I still worry

I'll leave them where they are - I figure they're probably used to the cold by now, so I may as well not mess them up anymore tonight.

So I dont guess anyone went to Sano tonight. I would have hated standing around as cold as it is. My water heaters had thrown my breaker so when I went to feed all the water was frozen. Hopefully the worst is over. All of my babies seem to be doing well. 2 out of my 4 buff brahmas has already started laying. Finally some eggs. I definately want more brahmas.

btw - didja see I'm gonna get some Blue Swedish ducks?
they won't be here til early march, but still.. that'll give me time to work everyone around and get rid of some extra chickens.

Can't wait to see them.

Nope, we didn't go this week. Probably the first time I haven't been there since August, except for Halloween.
I usually have to take a bucket of very warm water with me in the mornings to thaw out bunny bottles and stuff. I had to bring them in, along with the quail and pigeons' waterers this evening, they were already frozen so badly the poor things couldn't get anything out.

I'll be glad when this is over!

Yes she did. I took about 30 pics but most were blury and far away because she didn't want me to take her prize away.
Can you believe that the first snake was about twice as big and she gulped it down in about 5 to 7 qulps! I was amazed.

Everyone else: Check out my second page web site. It shows one of my girls killing and eating a small snake. I'm so proud!!!

See, I told my dad they would eat snakes, I guess the one we tossed in there was just too big for them!

Hello fellow Kentuckians! I live in Georgetown, outside of Lex. I have been searching for (forgive spelling here) some Americanas, Araucanas or Easter Eggers. I keep finding people on bluegrasspoultry.com, and on craigslist, etc etc but whenever I contact them they either change thier mind about selling, dont return my calls or lose the birds before I can get there on the weekend. Thought you guys might be able to help.
These are going to be my little bro's (well, not too little, he's 22) first chickens. I would also like one to breed to my bantams and try for a blue egg strain.
Anyways..if you can help..appreciate it!!
Also--THIS COLD SUCKS!!
