Ducks are so much fun, but they take so long!! It really isn't that hard, you just need to make sure you keep the humidity up higher. And drop the temp a bit for the hatch, other than that, they are basically the same. Some people put ducks and chickens together, and just mist the duck eggs. You could probably set the duck eggs on a wet cloth, lord knows it wouldn't hurt them!

Yeah I'll need that soon...We've been visiting Raoul, Splat and the flock since they've moved into their new digs. I really felt bad when we went back with the rest of the flock because Little Man and Terminator had some bad frostbite on their combs and wattles. They must've slept in the trees with her flock instead of up in the coop. We've visited the flock 3 times since they've been gone and Little Man never fails to greet me(he's my baby) Raoul was super happy to see Cortni weekend before last, he followed her all over and she carried him for a while...It's amazing how they can imprint on someone, then remember them even though they aren't seeing the person often. Splat also always comes up for a quick hold as well. LucyToo gets up on the perch, I guess so we don't have to bend to pick her up, and she throws a fuss till someone holds her. It's too funny and it makes us feel good to know they still love us even though we sent them to an unfamiliar territory. All the laying girls never missed a lick in their laying pattern and seem to be very happy with their new nestboxes.

Hi Cindy

Doing okay. I got my first silkie, and Flowerpot brought over the two Mille Fluer hens for me, and I picked up a trio of OEGBs, plus my 7 babies are now 10weeks old and out with the other chickens.

How are you doing? Miss chatting with you on here.

Well, I had to put the baby ducks out in the coop today.
Those things are So adorable ------ and SOOOOOO Stinky!!!!

I had an empty coop, thankfully, so I set it up for them with a heat lamp and some food and water. Last I checked they were running around in a group exploring stuff.

Last night, at like 10:00 at night Bruce and I totally cleaned all the little pens and such for them - this morning I got up (less than 12 hours later) and they whole house smelled bad like their pens again.

I guess 21 ducklings is too many to keep inside your house for long

It's gonna get cold this week, too, and that worries me, but I figure I'll put another heat lamp or two out there, and they ought to be fine.

So, today I get to totally clean the sewing room (again) and maybe get rid of the playpen for now. That'll give me more room to walk in there, at least.

Jr. still hasn't hatched out her eggs, yet.

I have what may be a Sultan roo if anyone is interested. I think I'll hold on to him for a bit longer to be sure of his rooness but want to find out if anyone might be looking for a Sultan just in case.

So I built a chicken tractor for my mother n law. After it turned out quite amazing especially since a woman built it. I am thinking to myself... Self... Should I build these to sell?? I wonder what the market may be for chicken tractors?? The house part is 4x4 and the run is 4x8. They are both independent of each other so they are easy to move. 2 people can pick it up with ease. I guess 1 person could drag it. I will post pictures of it tomorrow to see what you guys think. Right now I pondering on the possibilities of the market for them. They are perfect for say 4-5 chickies.

I'd love to see pics of them, since Julie at the feedstore talked me into trying 5 cornish cross chickens this spring - I'm gonna need something other than my coops to house them in.

That's great! I've been getting 1 a day for 4 days now. She didn't lay today though. It would be nice if the others would start, but hey, at least they are starting to! Meri's started real early, and all of hers are laying!

We need to find out what her secret is!

Flowerpot, Ametaus and I were there last Saturday, I picked up a Blue Splash Silkie Pullet, Flowerpot got another Tom Turkey cause her guineas keep after her Black Tom, thinking that he is one of them. And Ametaus got a goose I think. Flowers sister and niece were with us. Her niece got 6 assorted baby ducks.

Last week there were Peafowl, Turkeys, Ducks, Geese, Chickens, Quail, Rabbits, pheasants and Gunieas and Pigeons there. Of course we were there around 7:30 - 8:00 in the morning, so nobody was there with any goats, sheep, or calves. The weather is supposed to be kinda crummy this Saturday according to the reports I've heard so far. So I don't know what will be there this week-end. If the weather isn't bad, I might go back again this Saturday.

Well, there are usually a bunch of people that have them there, but again it will depend alot on what the weather is like as to how many people will be there.
