Meri -- I want Tina -- I bet she can really belt a mooo out!!

We went to get hay this weekend the the folks we got hay from had a baby steer in their back yard on this farm and it was soooo friendly and made me want one even more!!

Darn fence -- if the people who had the place before us had only taken care of the fences, I'd have me one or two.... Gggrrrr

Tina is my favorite of the two

she is such a lovey dovey. Toby came in and licked her nose so she followed him everywhere - he wasn't sure what to think about that. Yeah, Tina is louder than Ike is - he is a bit shy and wobbly still (Tina is more outgoing) but he can make some noise, also

.

I love the cows - never thought I would. I didn't care for them as a kid on the farm - dirty and smelly - but now I adore them (well, most of them).

Poor Tina has colostrum so thick, I have to wipe her butt for her - brings back memories

I'm glad my kids are all grown. If I could I'd seriously have them in the house as pets. These two are small enough to do it but they poop everywhere

so "no go" on the "house cow".

Just get some BIG diapers and put them on Ike and Tina.... They'd make a good addition to any house....

I had to dig out some of DD's old diapers when whe had to bring a sick goat baby into the house... Boy do they look soooo funny with them on... if he hadn't been sick, I'd have taken pictures but he was WAY too sick for that... He didn't even last 4 more hours... poor little Dude...

Cindy - just give me a few days notice to make the bread... I just roasted up 13 pumpkins and put them in the freezer so I can make it with fresh pumpkin instead of canned...

Sorry Drifter, just logged back in the forum, belated good morning to you.

Meri, those calves are cute, you going to keep Tina for a milker and butcher Ike? I wish I could have a cow but I am running out of room in my backyard.

I'm going to have to expand the silkie pen or build a new one and split them up, they are needing more room.

I built another rabbit hutch today, just have to put some finishing touches on it and then I can move the white New Zealand buck into his new home. Still have to build two more for the other two bucks that are in with their sisters. Lost another litter of baby rabbits yesterday. They were doing fine, and when I checked on them, (no I didn't touch them) they were all dead, all 6 of them.

My Sheltie barks at the chickens, and for the most part they ignore her, all except my Polish hen, she marches right up to the fence fluffs her feathers and pecks at her. Silly Dog!

Chuck -- you're gonna have to get that place in the country soon or animal control is gonna get after you with all those animals....
lau.gif

OMG - I just can't believe you have so many animals at your place in the city....

With the slow down at the Stock Yards, I'm thinking I'll move the soap selling to the Awesome Flea Market to see if I can sell a bit more.... I'm gonna miss everyone at the Stock Yards but soap just isn't selling there.... Folks think I'm selling fudge.. .which I guess I could make up a couple of batches but that would really be branching out....

Tom-Tom (the Thanksgiving Turkey) looks soooo funny... he's a bit lonely but only a couple more weeks until he's gone... I cut most of his feathers off when I got him so he couldn't fly over the barnyard fence.... I think he's a bit miffed at all of us as he stays up by the trees most of the time....

Mrs. Turbo -- those babies I think have doubled in size... what kind are they?? They're eating like pigs!! I guess soon I'll be able to open the coop door for them to run around.... I'm a bit leary about the white chick as I think the Hawk kills anything white... all my other white girls were killed... it is very strange.... I had 6 white silkies and they all are gone either just disapeared or found dead.... I guess I don't have much luck with white girls......

My girls better get back into production soon or my neighbors are going to be having chicken with their turkeys on Thanksgiving. Right now I'm only getting three eggs or so a day from them. Gotta finish that rabbit hutch today. So I can start on the other two. Then start on cleaning aquariums out. Looking forward to that...NOT! Only 19 more tank to do. Guess I'll have to get rid of some living room furniture to move the tanks into there.

White is always a stick out color for predators. They can't blend into the background unless there is snow on the ground.

Mojo Chick'n :

Hubby (needing a haircut) with Sluggo (3 day old calf) and Tina (5 days old)

See, I said they were small

meri

Mojo!!! no wonder they are small, . . . you have the feed bucket on the top rail of the fence and they cannot reach it.

And why does hubby need a haircut? He looks a little like Santa! Wish my beard looked that full and nice.

I thought you were calling him Ike? Or is this another new calf? Are you building up a dairy herd or a beef herd? Inquiring minds want to know!

Could be a change in diet that is causing the rabbit to have the runs, Shelley, not sure how to fix it but I'll look in my rabbit books and see if they say what to do and get back to you.

Well I guess my girls read my last post because I had 5 eggs to collect today instead of three. Will know more tomorrow and see if I still get the 5 or more or just three.

Yeah, I did a bit of searching, and that's what I think it probably is too. This bunny is so small, about the same size as the guinea pigs. We give the GPs apples and stuff, basically any type of fruit that is left over when Cris is done with it. The bunny is probably not used to it. Plus the change in surroundings, pellets, company

and everything else has probably just stressed the poor baby to no end. It's not really diarrhea, it's just very loose. It looked kind of pudding consistency, and a lot of it. The bunny has been drinking a lot of water though, not sure if that's normal?? Normally I have to fill the water bottle every 3 or 4 days for the 2 GPs, and it's been an everyday thing since we got the bunny.

This is the new bunny:

And we put her inside this cage yesterday for a little while:

She went right through the bars. The GPs never did, so she is pretty tiny.
