Hey Shelley, guess who laid her first egg today! I thought she had laid one before but after seeing her actually in the nest then seeing the result I came to the conclusion that this is indeed her first one.

And this big basketball girl(LF Cochin, look how FAT she is) left of the bantam Cochin laid her first last week... But still only getting a couple eggs a day out of 8 cause the EE that was laying has gone on strike.

You can add this household to that list. The water flows towards the coop and before we got it re-routed around the coop it would get very muddy. Yep, fell on my fanny and tried to catch myself and landed on hands and knees another time. Yep, YUCK!

rain for the next 3 days!
pulled my ham out of the freezer yesterday for Christmas dinner and in passing DH said that is a country ham! Why would the pig we slaughtered be made into country ham? I never buy it.....I was looking forward to a nice sugar cured ham. Need to make a run to walmart because I know nothing about country ham.

My girls have been real loafers... Never seen such a slow start. BC went into moult in Oct(still not back to laying), The Andalusian and brown EE laid for about a week when I got them and then went into moult(still not back laying), Boo hasn't laid since I got her, traumatic transfer I guess, P'nut Butter just started last week and only one day, Union just laid her first(nothing since), Liberty has stopped for some reason(probably going to moult), so as it stands Barbie is my only regular layer.

If you do you can add me as a friend. I play Farmville most of the time. I check in here from time to time. We have rain too. I had posted on Facebook about our weather and how we had freezing fog 2 nights in a row and then yesterday it was warm. I was saying I hope it just don't rain now. Well, I woke up and we have rain. Just what we needed more mud. I seem to always fall in it. For some reason my balance isn't what it used to be.

And to anybody: I have some EE roos that I need to find homes for. They are very pretty in my opinion. I would keep one or two for myself but I can't have brother and sister breeding. It would be very nice to have a roo or cockreal to trade. Well, what I have are 2 and 3 month olds, not quite roos but hey are trying to crow and I also have 4 EE/Onagadori mix. They will be small due to the bantam breed in the Onagadori but they are very pretty too. I only keep the full blood. The evidence shows that before my EE roo met his fate he managed to breed my AO hen. Must have hid behind the coop and had an affair. Naughty pair. Anyway. I will gladely trade the lot for 1 EE cockreal or roo. Or Make an offer if you have something else to trade. I have a bearded splash Silkie roo that could use a wife and a splash Orphington hen that could use a husband. I do have some more mixed hens that are laying that could go too. I'm trying to pair some up.

The other hens are an OEGB and 2 mixed silkie/aracuna's. One is solid black from beak to toe and the other has a little brown speckles on her throat. Can't tell them apart unless you look under their necks. I have pics of all of them if anybody is interested.

Hey Yolonda! we ran into you so much this fall and now we dont......we miss you guys! LOL
We won't be hitting all the spring shows like we did spring 2009. Everytime we would move around the call ducks they would stop laying and they just don't show well fresh out of the breeding pens.
Facebook huh.....DH said that is for young people and I need to stay away.
