I normally sell mixed chicks for $2 each. Pure breeds $3. and up for instance Black copper marans are running up to 10. each. Depend's on quality and on how much you have invested in them, and by the time you figure elec., feed , water. of course the labor is "free"

Well in case you haven't heard, the rodent in PA saw his shadow again, however he only has about a 39% accuracy rating. But the one on Long Island didn't see his shadow and his accuracy rating is about 77% over 22 years. I'm going with the LI rodent and hoping for an early spring!

I bought fresh seeds for this year's garden and hopefully it will turn out better than last year's. I'm going to move the chickens to the other side of the yard and till under their old run and put the patio and garden on that side of the yard. Gonna put up privacy fencing and move the mini ponds over to outline the garden area and patio. I ought to get a good crop this year with all the rabbit and chicken stuff mixed in with the soil. I'm going to do raised bed gardening.

This time when I redo the run I'm going to make sure it has a full cover over it to help cut down on the mud!

hi guys! i just posted this as a new topic but thought it was worth a try on this thread too. I'm visiting family in lexington (where i grew up) today, and i would LOVE to see someone's chicken set up. I:m planning for my tiny flock (want to get started this summer/fall)...but i live in New York and I have never really seen a chicken coop in person. Embarrassing, i know, but i fell in love with chickens on the internet!

Anyway, i'm only in town today

One more thing. I have found the best ever chicken/muck boot i've had mine for a month now and love'em check out crocs "georgie" they are 1/2 of right now with free shipping

I admit they are a bit bright in the color realm, but that makes them hard to loose. water proof light weight. spray and go.

How exciting! I got my hovabator in last Monday and set eggs on Tuesday. I hope you have more luck than I have had. I have had so much trouble keeping it regulated. Of course, I'm a first timer at incubating. I had mine set at 100 degrees and it stayed like that for a day before I put my eggs in. Since then it's been all over the place. I don't think it's the incubator though. I have had a wood fire going (which I think made my temp spike) and then through the night when the fire goes out, the temps drop. One morning I woke up and it was 94! Let me know how yours goes. Maybe that will keep me excited!

Pop, the move to Winchester has been postponed indefinitely. My friend whose property I was going to buy hasn't found a new place to move to yet.

Talked to Flowerpot today, she is doing good and said to say Hi to everybody. She's been busy babysitting the grandbabies and doesn't have much computer time.

OMG --- I can't believe all the changes on here since December..... My work banned BYC site so now I can't surf at lunch anymore....

DH is much better... still going to cardic re-hab.... Found out today that Bardstown Mills will order any number of chicks/ducks/turkeys/geese etc that you want.... FlowerPot called me to see if we could go in on an order but I might just go there and get them....

It looks like I'm gonna have to thin out my flock.... I'm getting about 6 eggs a day now.....

I think my Great Pyr is prego as well as my rat terrier and my 4 pygmy does.....

Lots of babies in April and May around here....

I can't believe Shelly and Meri are no longer on.... I'll miss their humor....

Anyone else missing??
