Steph I have not been to TriCounty in several years but back in the 1980's to 2000 I went a bit. I was always leery of the stock there. Seemed like a lot of "culls" too old or sick for people to fool with any longer. Critters were handled kind of rough and prices were not all that good for the seller. I've heard it's been cleaned up and has a vet on site. Vacs are required on large animals.

Be prepared...It is a country auction ..... people buying there are not looking for pets....they are looking for tomorrows dinner.

Thanks Shelly. Gunieas sound good then. Maybe if I make some really "natural" looking nestboxes I can keep them laying in the shed. I am thinking along the lines of cane and sticks stacked like teepeees lol.

Hello all,
I need help. Does anyone know of anyone who processes chickens and turkeys in KY. I am just not ready to do it myself. But I like the idea of raising home grown meat instead of store bought. I am willing to drive. I have a rooster that is 14 weeks and needs to go soon. Thanks

Check at the local Amish/Mennonite communities, they usually have a 'jack of every trade' there.

Howdy back at ya. My experience with guinea they dont much get bothered (once they get big enough) by much of anything, other than when they decide to cross the road with cars and trucks running 70 mph.
I live right on Ky HY11 I had 30 free ranging last year. Before they went free ranging they where running with chickens no problem at all. These guys did a number on the ticks did not see a one last year.

Have a bunch french guinea keet's @ $4. per if anyone interested. Hatched out 5-26-10

Thanks Larry!

While I would love to see them go to a "pet home" I understand that is less likely with roo's

I have prepped myself with the roosters that they will most likely go for a meal.

Thanks again

I don't think you are too far from scbatz, you should think about going to the cookout meet n trade they are hosting on Sunday. You will meet several BYC folks plus some.

If you take the main highway to greensburg, There is a mennonite store just before you get to Greensburg. I cant remember the name but the very large sign would be on the left. Sorry I cant be more specific for you.
