Gosh Meri, I hope those cochins didn't come from there! I don't think we are close enough to get birds from Berea, but who knows with that sale. People buy the birds from one place one day, and sell them somewhere else the next, so who knows?
Remember I told you the guy had 3 pair that he had bought there at the sale? I bought one, then went to the consignment auction the next day in Liberty, and he was there with the other two lined up for the auction!

Who knows.

I would hate to have to put them all down and start over.

If I have to I will, though, because I dont want something I'll have to deal with forever on them.

I also don't want any new chicks I put out there to catch it.

Oh, btw, did I mention that now Etta has a snotty nose?

I haven't gotten mine just yet. I will be getting a young pair of blue slates, but I have to wait till next month when I get some more money. You said you weren't sure if it was a hen or tom right? Maybe you could post it in the other fowl section and find out. I would really hate to get another tom, but I would like it if it is a hen. How much would you want if it is a hen?

Is there any way you can find out which it is? I know that the cumberland animal hospital in Columbia does chickens, maybe you could take one there and have it checked?

I could maybe do that, would have to find the place, though, where is it? Is that the one in town down past IGA?

I could at least call them, they might not want me to bring it into their place if it is contageous. Of course, they could maybe come out to the car, they'd probably be able to tell by looking, if they have experience (which I don't have).

I'm considering just putting all the cochins into the banty pen til the antibiotics are done (if I can keep them all from fighting) since it is easier to treat them all in one place. That way, too, it'll keep any sickies out of the bottom coop - since the other two cells aren't affected at all (yet).

If it were coryza, would it only affect some of them? because the greater majority of the birds (all in the same coop) aren't affected at all.

I don't want to take in Cindy's babies and have them get sick if I have something serious here. I'll try calling that vet tomorrow, to see what they think I ought to do.

No the one by IGA is Dr. Coffey. She might do it too, don't know. Cumberland is the one on 55 towards Campbellsville.

Dr. Coffey is hardly ever in on Fridays, especially after noon, so you might want to call early. She used to have the clinic at her house, so she may do chickens as well. The name is Coffey's vet center, or vet clinic, one or the other. I stopped going there when Baby got attacked by dad's pit, and no one would answer the phone. Plus she never calls back, if you leave a message. Cumberland is comparable on prices, and they act like they actually care. I saw someone in the waiting room with a goat once, so I know they do 'exotics'.
