Kentucky people

That's Ok, a friend on mine used to have some, but she stopped raising them. I guess most people don't want to have pet quail! Marie_martin said she would send me some for the cost of shipping, but I am so broke right now, I can't even afford that! Maybe I should send her the box and packing stuff, then it would be a bit cheaper!

Tell her to add eggs and ship

Have you guys seen a movie called "Are you afraid of the Dark?" I think thats what it is called? I love scary movies but OMG this one left me checking under my bed and sleeping completely under covers for years. Don't know why but it really scared me

but some of the folks he brings in are interesting. Ghost Hunters is the one with TAPS, right? I've seen that one a few times - I do like how they are more sceptical than most.

Any show like that where the people go in almost scaring themselves because they fully expect to find something makes me wonder if what they do find is real. IMO you can't do a "scientific" investigation if you are already convinced that you'll find what you're looking for. (and they claim to be scientific about it). It's not that I don't believe in Spirits and the like - it is that I doubt the "experts" they bring in (usually).

I've witnessed/experienced/studied too much not to believe in spirits. Every religion that I've studied has got spirits (good or evil or both) and it is pretty much a world wide thing. I doubt the people who walk into a room and "fall into trance" at the drop of a hat or channel "Mr. Spooky" or some such to give all the answers they seek.

I need more proof than that, personally.

Speaking of people scaring themselves, though - Scariest Places On Earth is one of the funniest dang shows I've ever seen. If you've never seen it, check it out sometime (I think sci-fi channel has it on all day tomorrow or thursday).

The episode where they go to the Lucido is sort of freaky. (Catholic Monastery,

, can't help myself) but still - it is freaky more for the facts of the place than by what happens. Some really bad stuff went down there - nasty place, would love to go and check it out myself.

I don't think I've seen that one. I missed a lot of 70's horror that I should have caught - thank goodness for netflix, LOL.

I want to see The People Under the Stairs, too - never seen it, heard it is good.

Meri-- I remember the first horror movies we watched when we (my sister and I) were supposed to be sleeping. One was The Exorcist, the other was Children of the Corn. After watching The Exorcist, we went home (we had been at an uncle's house), and wouldn't you know, the bedroom door was closed! We wouldn't even open it!! So we were busted then!
And growing up in 'corn country' Indiana, and watching Children of the Corn at 7 years old, is not a good idea!! We were at the same uncle's house, and all the way home we were surrounded by corn fields! Then of course the house was also surrounded. I don't think we played outside for about a month, unless mom locked us out!

The night we saw it, I remember laying in bed. There was a dresser beside the bed, and the top drawer just happened to be open. I was so scared, cause my wild imagination was telling me there was a kid sitting in that drawer that was going to get me!!!

I don't get that freaked out by them anymore, but I still get scared. But it's just like riding a roller coaster. You know it's gonna scare you, but you do it anyway!

Have you seen The Grudge? I have a story about that one too. When I first got it, I had 2 indoor cats. Picasso was white and black, and Naomi was pure black (if you've seen it, then you probably know where this is going). Anyway, the place I lived had closets everywhere, that were about knee high from the floor. It was a mobile home trailer, one of those pull behind ones. Anyway, Naomi used to love hiding in the closets. Every time the door opened, in she would go. I opened one of them shortly after watching that movie, and out jumps this pure black cat!!!! I just about peed all over myself!!!

Never seen The Grudge, yet.

Children of the Corn,

Stephen King is good for psychological stuff. Pet Semetery was sort of a scary book.
Not "sleep with the lights on" scary, but good.

Oh I know!! That show (the scariest places on earth) is SOOOO fake!! I have often wondered if TAPS has ever checked any of those sites out? TAPS is pretty professional. They usually go in pretty much not believing anything is going on, so what they find seems legit.
I have had my share of ghost stories or haunted houses to not believe.

Yeah I don't think I've seen that one either. There was another one I saw as a kid that still would freak me out I'm sure, if I coudl remember what it was called! It was about dolls that came to life. They were children actually, but they were supposed to be life sized dolls. I think they came to life and started killing people or something. Anyway, as a girl I got one of those walk-with-me-talk-with-me dolls, that is about the size of a 3 year old. My sister had one as well. Those dolls never were played with again!!
lau.gif
And God forbid the closet door was left open!! We would lay in bed, too scared to get up and close the door, but too scared to fall asleep! We would yell for mom or dad to come close the door. After we had our baby sister scared of them as well, mom and dad finally got rid of them!!

OMG!! You want to talk about a sleep with the lights on book??? Try Cujo. I don't know what it was about that book, but I read it in one night. I couldn't turn the light off, and couldn't sleep with the lights on, so I just stayed up and read it all. Finally went to sleep when the sun came up! The Stand was like that as well. I would sleep during the day, cause I was soooo tired from having to stay up all night! It didn't help that I had some porcelain dolls in my room. They always seem to be looking at you, which really doesn't help when you are already scaring yourself!!

I loved Cujo !! I had 2 St. Bernards at the time, too, LOL.

The Stand was good, too - had to sit and read on it every chance I had. I have a copy of The Stand, ought to get it out and read it again - they left a bit out of the mini series (but it was so long I can see why they had to).

Stephen King is good for writing books where normal situations turn scary. Anyone can write a Monster Book - when the monster is your neighbor or your family pet, or your kid - now that is scary

I didn't mind the movie Cujo much, but the book was scary. Whenever I would turn the lights off, I would see those red eyes in the closet!

The mini-series of The Stand was pretty close to the book, imo. They did leave some out, but not as much as they usually do. Stephen King gets a bit too graphic in his books. They would have to come up with a new rating if they copied his books into movies!
I don't think I could reread that book if I tried!! I read that after I quit school, before I had gotten a job, or had kids or anything, so I had plenty of time for it. I think it took me about 4 days...I've always been proud of that! A 1500 pg book in 4 days?? Most people think I'm joking! I can really go through them, if I put my mind to it. And if I don't have many distractions!
