Yep, that's my friend May again. She must be really hard up if she is selling her games as well. She must be getting rid of them all. I really need to try and call her. If I were to get adult geese, I would get them from her. Her geese are very friendly. I need to call her, wonder if it is too late?
I know she did have a millie pullet last time I was there, if you're interested? I got my blue splash pair and pullet from her, as well as Gertie the broody, and Emma, the red hen with bitties. I think I'll try to call her, it's not that late yet. She has african (or brown chinese), canadian, and I think embden and toulouse geese, but they could be pilgrims. I would have to ask her. Not sure what other kinds of chickens she has, but she had a lot of call ducks last time I was there.

Bandaid was my only lg breed Cochin...Her and Bess were my most prolific layers at the time of the incident. For a Cochin Bandaid laid daily, I was surprised since I read they weren't good layers. No one else should have feathered legs unless the Millie roo snuck one in on the Japs' girls. Now two of my Jap babies in the brooder started out with very minimal and light feathering partway down their legs but it is almost gone now.

Dad has two standard cochins, and they are the only two free-range hens that are laying right now, an egg almost every single day.

Yeah that's what dad's white cochin looks like. Did you see her when you and Meri were here? She is not as fluffy as Bertha is, but she looks just like that one. I'm sorry she was a nonsurvivor.

I'm not sure what kinds of calls she has. She pretty much lets them all run together, so they could be mixed. I know she had some mallard calls, and some black ones, but I don't know what else, or if she is even selling them. I tried to call her and no answer.

I've called her this late before, so maybe she is staying at her daughter's house or something? The answering machine didn't even pic up, and it usually does after 4 rings.

I'm in Adair County, as is Shelley, and I don't know what county Cindy is in (it isn't Russell County anymore over there, is it?)

I know Shelley has fertile eggs, but I'm having fertility issues with my roo - seems every egg I set last bator full were not fertile (from my own hens - everyone else's eggs I had in there did fine.)


ok, googled it - you're closer to Cindy and Bluedog420 than either me or Shelley.

Your best bet is to post on the Kentucky Traders thread, and see if someone closer to ya has eggs.

Ok, I finally talked to May!!! She has one pair of geese left for sale, and 'she thinks' they are embdens. She has to go to the hospital tomorrow for surgery (they are removing her breast

but it hasn't spread anywhere!!

), so she won't be home for a few days. The ducks she has for sale are mallard pairs (not calls) and one male muscovy. She said she is not selling any of her calls...sorry Cindy!! Her calls are the black ones, I'm assuming the east indies...maybe you could talk to her and see if she can hatch you some eggs when they start laying? I don't know what kind of chickens she has, but I'm sure they are mixed.

Meri---did you call that guy's number I gave you? I am not to sure about his birds, but I know May's geese are very friendly and they are used to being penned up at night, so you might want to see about them. They would most definitely breed and lay eggs this year, so you would have your own little flock in no time!! Like I said though, she said she wasn't sure which ones she had left, they are either embdens, brown or white chinese. But there is definitely a pair of them.

ETA: The geese are $20 each, so $40 for a pair of them.

hard to say, but he'd probably pitch a fit. I ought to wait til spring, probably, and start with babies. If I do spring, I can have them outside, rather than in the house, or try to find a place to keep them locked up til they get used to the place - will be easier to shut them in when it's warmer out. I can build something, then, as a temporary thing.

I'm gonna go watch Thunderheart (or whats left of it)
