Kentucky people

I guess I need to go and check my buttons again. I just overhauled their cage yesterday and didn't find any eggs, but who knows? I think I have mostly boys, there are quite a few with plucked heads.

ETA: Have you been keeping a light on them? I haven't for a few weeks, so I don't know if they'll lay. I hope not, I'll just have to feed the eggs back to them. I don't need anymore buttons!

Well that would be why you have eggs already!! I was keeping the light on them for about 10 hours or so, but there is enough light in the room (with 2 brooders going) that they have enough without it. They didn't like it at first, but they got used to it. It is never completely dark in there, and where they sleep it is pretty much dark, so I figured that would be okay. That is kind of early to be laying! Most people say buttons don't lay till 9 weeks. These guys are about what? 7? Something like that, I always forget.

Yeah, I have no idea what sort of geese they'll get - those would be local bred, and may be mixed. I'll stick with you on the geese order. Although, I may up my order to two females, and one male, instead of just a pair. Be sure to ask before ya put the order in

I figured to go with Day & Day on the ducks, though, because I can save the shipping cost, and they'll only be about 4 bucks her duckling -(which is cool) and I can get the Blue Swedes that way. The Blue Swedes breed - 50% blue 25% black and 25% silver splashed so I'd have a nice mix once they breed and give me some babies.

Julie said she's going to be breeding her Bronze turkey with her neighbor's Bronze, so she'll maybe have some turkey poults this spring, too. Not sure if she plans to sell any of them at the store, but if you wanted some, you should ask her.

Dad said D&D usually charges $5 for day old ducklings, but idk. The only kind mt healthy has that I already have is the pekins, and counting the two babies in the house I have 3 pairs. I'll need to get rid of at least one drake on those anyway.

Hey Cindy, I have one bator with 14 empty holes, and the other one has 6 I think, so there is plenty of room for your eggs. I was supposed to be getting some more silkie eggs from BamaChicken but she hasn't contacted me on them yet. She was supposed to let me know yesterday if she would have enough, and I haven't heard anything. I still need a couple of buff silkies, since I only have 1 of the 7 sent to me developing.

flock misstress have u used mt healthy? i am probably gonna order my rocks from them this spring? I have a few questions about buying chicks fro the same place and letting them breed later in life? i guess that should go to another topic?

I haven't ordered any chicks from hatcheries, but it is my understanding that hatcheries get their eggs from many different places. There would be a very small chance that the chicks you would order would be related, but it wouldn't matter if they were.

I e-mailed the lady that has the eggs and she said she'll let me know when she has them all collected and sent. So there's no telling how long she'll be. Hopefully no later than this next week.
