So mallards don't stay on the water? Our pond has not been totally frozen yet. The ducks stay in the water and keep an area cleared. Dad went down with his ax yesterday to break part of it for his horses, and he didn't even need to! He said he should have had ducks all along, then he wouldn't have had to freeze his butt off to break it all these years!

What is smaller than a guinea but screams just as loud? Apparently a red pyle OEGB rooster!!

We just went and caught all them plus the game roos, I swear those red pyles were screaming like women!! I've never heard roosters scream like that!!

Dad asked me what was wrong with them, I guess he's never heard it either!

eta - nevermind, read further on, that's really too bad about the ducks. I'm sorry.

TONS of goats, two weeks ago a guy brought in a whole truckload of dairy goats, most of them very pregnant.

They always have goats, though - sometimes dairy, sometimes meat goats, mini goats, just about any type you can imagine.

eta - yes, they do auction the poultry, but most people try to sell in the parking lot to get the price they want, and not be stuck with what they might sell for int he auction. The ones that don't sell before the auction, usually get put into the auction when it starts.

Well, they do the goats after the poultry and the miscellaneous, so they probably won't start auctioning the goats til about 6:00 or 6:30 but don't hold me to that

I usually leave before the auction starts - I don't do well in crowds, and it is CROWDED in that auction area. (that many people crowding me just creeps me out

it's a mental thing - I'm just weird like that.)

How many goats are you looking for?? Check craigs list. You may even put an ad on craigs list that you are looking for goats.
London also sells goats on Tuesdays. I am not sure of the time but I think it is in the afternoon.

With us having so little rain so far this winter, I bet there'll be a LOT of goats there this spring - people won't have the hay to feed the things.

I hope we get more rain before April (but not tonight, of course, I have to go poultry shopping

Well, the ducks have decided they like George's coop.

They hang out in there a lot when George and his girls are out running the yard - and last night I had a hard time convincing them that they weren't allowed to sleep in there.

lau.gif
on the other hand, all the commotion with me arguing with that little girl duck brought the chickens to watch the show and I didn't have any problem putting the chickens in the coop last night.

This may work to my advantage if I get another coop built, maybe I can make a Duck Cell in it for the ducks, so I won't have to worry about them when it gets super stormy in the winter.

I may have to name the little girl duck "Bossy" cause she bosses the chickens, she bosses the little drake, and she tries to boss ME

She is adorable, but she sure doesn't mind giving you her opinion.

Reminds me of my mother in law (may she rest in peace...) - except for the "adorable" part. Although my MIL was a very small woman - I swear she hands the size of a 4th grader - teeny tiny hands. Come to think of it, her family - even her husband - all called Her "The Boss" (they were half afraid of the woman
lau.gif
she had quite the "strong" personality

)

I took MIL's attitude for 5 years in silence, then one day I had it out with her (verbally) in her own backyard, - I won't go into details on a family board

but suffice it to say I left her speechless, and that was not an easy thing to do. It ended with me telling hubby he could be in the car within 5 minutes or he could stay with his Mommy because I was outta there.

Three days later she showed up on my doorstep apologizing to me - we got along great after that. (I guess no one in the family had ever stood up to her before.) I kinda miss the old war horse.

can't wait til tonight so I can get me some Quail (and maybe some duckies if anyone has them reasonably priced)
