the ducks are having a blast - they keep playing in the puddles - the chickens just look at them like they've lost their minds

It is really a lot of wet here, not too much ice. I guess we are supposed to get more ice, and possibly snow on top of that, so that should be fun! And here I forgot to get more Coke when I was at the store yesterday

I'm gonna be a barrel of laughs the next few days!

yeah I ran out of coke the other day, had to make a special run to the party store last night to get some.

I hope the roads into town are ok, I don't want to go out driving in that stuff

Too bad they don't close down Lee's so Jon doesn't have to work today

She's probably just busy or hasn't got much to say - I know I haven't posted much this last weekend. Well, not much for ME

I usually post a LOT.

You, post alot? Surely you jest!

Glad to see that you guys are okay, I just hope we don't lose power or I'm going to lose all my eggs in the bators.

I liked the pictures you took Meri, we got a lot of snow and sleet up here. I have had one shelter collapse, luckily nothing was under it.

Naw!! well, maybe I post just a little... every now and then.....

I have two generators ready to be cranked up if the power goes out. Hubby hard wired them into the breaker box, so all I have to do is fire them up and flip a breaker or two to have the power run to the box. That way I don't lose all the meat in the freezer, and my incubators don't die.

Last winter we had the tornadoes, and lost power for a day or two - but I didn't have a huge freezer full of cow, then. We prepared for it this year - hope we don't have to use it.

We also installed the woodstove, so we have heat this time if it goes out. Not sure the generators would run the furnace. Last time we had no heat - it got COLD before the power came back on.

I ought to make hubby go fire them up just to make sure they are primed and ready if we need to turn them on in the middle of the night or something.

Cindy may have lost power, I saw a few branches down off trees on my way into town earlier, and a friend of ours just called and his power is out.

I didn't have any problem getting into town to take Jon to work, but I imagine it'll be worse picking him up tonight after it all re-freezes.
I'm tempted, if it is too bad getting out of our road, to call the motel and tell Jon to go there (a short walk) and stay overnight and I'll pick him up tomorrow morning. We'll just see how slick it is getting out of our backroad, first.

I made the best roast cabbage tonight !!! I cut it into fourths and put butter on it and salt, pepper and a tiny bit of garlic, then roasted it in a roasting pan. It would be great grilled this way, too, in foil. The butter really made it taste rich and good and crispy on the edges mmmm.

Those silly ducks did not want to go inside tonight. I now have a large puddle over by the steps that go down to the lower coop - and they figured it was their pond. The puddle is easily 6 foot diameter and probably 8-9 inches deep in places. They loved it - had to have hubby help me chase them down by the coop to shoo them inside. Bossy complained the entire time. I'm such a meanie

poor girl. She kept swimming out to the middle, not realizing that it was deep for her, but not too deep for me to walk right into

she was not a happy duckie.

well, gonna go check weather and cruise BYC

Oh, I LOVE grilled cabbage!! Put some ham or bacon in there, with some salt, toss it on top of the coals....MMMMMMMM

I haven't made it in a while. I did make it in the oven one time, and it turned out pretty good, though it didn't get 'crusty' like it does on the grill. Grilled cabbage and bratwurst YUM!!!
