It's from my blue hen I lost, too. These were the eggs she was hiding in the woods when I found her nest the one time. I had thought they might have gotten frozen. They all developed, but I didn't think they'd hatch, they are due exactly today (28 days) and I'm freaking !!!!

WOOHOO!!!!! I'm hatching a duck!! it's my first duck to hatch

I hope he does ok (and the other three hatch).

I've had great fertility on those duck eggs - only one that I set never developed at all. (not sure about the ones under the hen, they all got thrown out).

Think good duckie thoughts for me

I have to work on the duck pen today - but I'll be in there checking on it a LOT, I'm sure.

Yay!! Just remember it can take up to 48 hours from pip to hatch. It should probably have pipped yesterday, so I would think maybe your temps are a bit low? That would also make the eggs develop a good ways and quit.

YAY FOR DUCKIES!!

ETA: Call duck eggs should take between 23-26 days, not 28.

That's what I had heard - these ones came from the woods, so I am wondering fi they were cooler when I found them (I thought they may have been too cold to even hatch). Stupid blue duck was laying out there under a shrub. She had three and laid one when I found her, so I took all four and put into the bator - my temps maybe have been a bit low, so that would account for the long hatch, too.

I hope they hatch so I can replace her with another blue hen.

got to go work on the pen -

see ya later.

If my hatches go good, I'll have call ducks soon - got two pipped almost hatched - got more eggs to go into the hatcher next week (already almost done incubating). I need to keep a female blue call - because I lost her mama, but I'll have more - I have a khaki female and blue drake, and had a blue female, still have some of her eggs incubating.

I believe the babies hatching right now are both blues and are a male and female - judging by bill color. (I'm keeping the female if she hatches well and lives).

Did you still want those crested swedish? because I am hoping to have my truck back by friday and am going to sano, so if ya don't want them, I'll take them along, too. If you do want them, I'll keep them for you.

Hey, everyone in KY. FrChuckW and FLOWERPOT from So. IN are coming down in a week or so to pick up their geese, did any of us want to set up some kind of 'meet and greet'?? We talk to each other so much on here, it would be nice to know who we are all talking to! Kind of like a local 'putting faces with names' kind of thing. What do you think??

were you able to cancel the geese I had on order? I hope so.

If not, PM me and we can work it out - I'd hate to have you eat the cost of them.

I'd be willing to show up and meet and greet - if ya think I won't scare em too much

I'll leave my Voodoo dolls at home.

Just checked the call ducks - first one that pipped is hatched - the second pip died - musthave been too weak to get out. Poor baby. I think the one that hatched is a boy, but I'm not sure, so I'll see when he dries off and gets fluffy. He's resting right now.

Last egg has no action on it at all - I'll leave it overnight and see.
I didn't expect any of these eggs to hatch, so I guess one hatching is good.

can't wait til the others go into the hatcher so he can have some buddies.

I still need to get in touch with Chuck and Kelley to see when they are planning on coming down. Not like I'll mind keeping the babies for a little while

I'm sure they will be spoiled by the time Chuck and Kelly get here!!

like I spoil chicken babies....

Fluffy and Gump are getting along great outside - every time they see me or Bruce they come running and peeping to be petted - they are so adorable - I'm glad I kept those two they are inseperable. BC tries to hang with them some, but she goes her own way a lot, too.
