My sovies are all motherly.... they will raise chicks as well as ducks.... crazy girls....

I figured out that I have a pack of boy gins.... 5 of them and no females.... I guess I'll have to get rid of some of them and find some girls.... maybe I'll go to the SY to see if they have some girls....

So that would be silkies and gins that I'm looking for.... what a pairing...

Well my chickens didn't sell worth a crap in Liberty, and apparently either one group didn't sell, or someone decided to help themselves to it. There was no record of my little silkies I took there having been sold

The quail did real well though, total of $72.50 for 27 quail. The lowest price was $2.50, up to $4.00 each. So I'll make sure to have plenty of those in the spring!

The best tactic would be to wait till they arrive then surrender quickly and request war reperations to rebuild all the damaged areas and to reestablish the now ruined economy of Chickenville.

Bring them back?? ARE YOU CRAZZZZY!!! I love those birds..I guard them with my life!!
No..actually..they hang around my Pyr flock guardian a lot. They are always laying next to him..so I don't worry about them at all. They are such amazing creatures, lovely feathers, beautiful blue eyes..and very intelligent. I couldn't be happier with them. You can't have them back..sorry!!

They just eat what the chickens eat..they have all been eating a lot of leftover pumpkins lately..they love those. But they mostly just eat cracked corn. I hand feed them regularly..a bit of chick food or air popped popcorn for a treat. I hold Samantha on my lap and she snuggles her head down in my shirt and makes sweet cooing sounds..she is very affectionate. Sebastian is a little more aloof, but still eats from my hand. He doesn't like to be picked up much though..but I do it anyway. Neither one of them like strangers at all. They will not even go by my neighbor kid who is over here every day. They still follow me around and greet me to loud honking when I get to the barn in the morning.

More now than the last time you were here..they are like little rodents running all over the barn. I still have a hen on eggs too..she's due to hatch around the 3rd of December. Don't you want some baby ducks for Christmas??

Please allow me to pass on a big invite to the Tennessee Pigeon and Dove club's annual pigeon and dove show this sat at Lebanon ,Tn. Swappers and sellers are allowed to set up out side the show. There is uaually a pretty fair amount of birds shown. I get to have bragging rights,One of my Performing Rollers won Champion of Show last year. I also took the top award in the parlor roller competion. Unfortunately I will not be able to show this year because of recent health issues. But if you get a chance come on down and join the fun.

I want those Sebbies.... They are soooo beautiful.... Let me know when you get babies, I might just have to barter you for them....

It's time to clean the kiddo's drawers this weekend... UGH!! I hate that more than cleaning the barn....

I think I'll sneak in some soaping too.... I'm making some foot lotion and lotion bars....

I think I heard Big Red Boy crow this morning.... I wasn't out there but it was a new crow so maybe he's not only getting his mo-jo on but a voice as well.... I really hope it wasn't that black silkie that was sold to me as a girl..... That would make me upset....

Mrs. Turbo those babies are eating me out of house and home... They eat more in a day than the rest of the flock.... or it could be the rest of the flock is coming in the coop window and helping themselves to yummy new vittles....

What's everyone else up to this weekend??

Well, Bubba's back in the coop

he is very happy to be out of the house too - although I have to say he was an excellent patient and acted very good about the whole ordeal.

He only really got ticked when I had to hold him to clean his eye out. Did I mention before what was wrong with him? (he has fowl pox and had one right in the corner of his left eye - made it swell up on him.)

I made him sleep in a lttle cage that first night, but the next morning I put him into an open topped bin and he stayed put the whole time he was in the house. Didn't try to get out and go wandering, didn't knock stuff over, or anything - he's a good boy.

He was just too tall to be comfy in that cage. He wasn't "sick" sick, either, he just stayed where I put him. I could tell he was getting tired of looking at those blue walls, though

I put the 13 chicks out with him, too. I'll have to go check on them in a bit. The big chickens pretty much ignored them, the only real hard time they got from any other chickens were the buff rock bantams. But it's a big space out there, so they should all find enough room to get along. At least the bantams aren't much bigger than the chicks, so they aren't gonna be squished if they argue.

One of those chicks is a green leg (easter egger roo got someone) and it is looking like it might turn out to be a really pretty bird. Actually two have green legs - but the other one is sort of non-distinct at the moment - that might change once it gets older, though.

The ones I thought were buff orp eggs that hatched out white are looking like delawares. Where the heck those came from is anyone's guess - Unless Fluffy was out there laying eggs in the barn, too. I gathered these (I thought) after Gump had been gone long enough, so maybe. I know they aren't Mr. Speckles's babies. Or maybe these were laid during the reign of Gump the Love Bandit - I guess I'll never figure it out.

Oh well.
