Mojo Chick'n :
Well, Bubba's back in the coop
he is very happy to be out of the house too - although I have to say he was an excellent patient and acted very good about the whole ordeal.
He only really got ticked when I had to hold him to clean his eye out. Did I mention before what was wrong with him? (he has fowl pox and had one right in the corner of his left eye - made it swell up on him.)
I made him sleep in a lttle cage that first night, but the next morning I put him into an open topped bin and he stayed put the whole time he was in the house. Didn't try to get out and go wandering, didn't knock stuff over, or anything - he's a good boy.
He was just too tall to be comfy in that cage. He wasn't "sick" sick, either, he just stayed where I put him. I could tell he was getting tired of looking at those blue walls, though
I put the 13 chicks out with him, too. I'll have to go check on them in a bit. The big chickens pretty much ignored them, the only real hard time they got from any other chickens were the buff rock bantams. But it's a big space out there, so they should all find enough room to get along. At least the bantams aren't much bigger than the chicks, so they aren't gonna be squished if they argue.
One of those chicks is a green leg (easter egger roo got someone) and it is looking like it might turn out to be a really pretty bird. Actually two have green legs - but the other one is sort of non-distinct at the moment - that might change once it gets older, though.
The ones I thought were buff orp eggs that hatched out white are looking like delawares. Where the heck those came from is anyone's guess - Unless Fluffy was out there laying eggs in the barn, too. I gathered these (I thought) after Gump had been gone long enough, so maybe. I know they aren't Mr. Speckles's babies. Or maybe these were laid during the reign of Gump the Love Bandit - I guess I'll never figure it out.
Oh well.
