Khaki Campbell venturing away

Lately my khaki has some how been getting out of my yard and venturing away and we don’t know why I literally had to go searching the wood for him today. The only things that have changed is not feeding them duck food for a few days so they’ll free range but I’ve given them kale and blueberries and we started introducing our 2 month old khaki ducklings into the flock. I don’t know what to do his mate died in October and if something happens to him we will all be heartbroken. Also I don’t know if this makes sense in the last few weeks he’s gotten old looking. Any advice is very much appreciated!

Give them duck food for dinner every day so they have that as a reason to come home in the evening. Even when you let them out the free range all day and they forage they still need the duck food.

Oh ok I thought it was better if they strictly free ranged.
