I didn't say the act of sitting makes fat. Sitting around while consuming too much food makes you fat.

Its not so much too much food, as it is the wrong kind of food.
You cannot gain weight regardless of lack of activity, if you are eating only real food with a good portion of real fats.

Sorry but I disagree with your last statement.....even too much good food will make a person gain weight if the activity level doesn't offset the amount of calories being taken in.

Can't argue with you.

So raise a home-grown carrot and a glass of raw milk to independence!

mmmmmmm raw milk! Nothing like growing your own food and knowing what you're actually eating. I wonder if my grand parents ever thought one day they would be the exception instead of the norm.

People have become so distanced from where their food comes from it is amazing to me.....like sheep to the slaughter.....and do we let be the shepherds? Washington? Monsanto? and others who's only concern is their bottom line and not our health.

Except its really hard to overeat if you are eating only real foods with plenty of real fats.
Your body will not be hungry if saturated fats are added back in.
Ever wonder why children seem hungrier then they used to be?

Uhh... I don't believe I need a study to tell me why I am fat or thin I eat and do nothing I get fat I eat and work hard I don't get fat until I quit working hard then I get fat again and of course that means I continue to eat. Assuming for the sake of this conversation we all eat then the other factors are added in which as I said are exercise amounts eaten and so on,just because one person controls their diet with exercise another can control it with limited portions and others resort to gagging/vomiting it all is really the same the combination of everything contributes to obesity with a few medical exceptions.

I've said the same thing for a long time, but people don't want to hear that sitting on your butt makes you fat. They'd rather say it's the food they're eating than have to take some personal responsibility that it might actually be their lifestyle to blame.

Sitting does not make fat. It truly is the food that is being eaten. Science proves that.

And that gap is widening. Kids don't even get to go on farm tours anymore out of fear of "exposure to those dirty farm animals". So sad!

And those tours they did go on? Often not a good window into what a healthy farm is supposed to be

Confinement is not cool.

Tours around here didn't go to CAFO's and that is a subject unto itself. You missed the point. The point was that we are convincing our children through this that animals are dirty dangerous disease carrying entities. So they look no further and never see how food is really grown or raised. Thus they never question what they are told.

Anybody watch Harry's Law? New program on NBC, well done IMO. A recent program had a mouthy attorney suing some fast food chains, with an obese poor woman as the client, for being overweight. Won the case (fat chance, pardon the pun.) But the point was that, although the client certainly bore some responsibility for her excess weight, so did the chains.

And then there's the Swedish diet.....
