What's the range and velocity(apprx)?
I'm not sure of the range but the stated muzzle velocity is 100 feet per second (30 mps). It reaches my perimeter fence with very little drop. You can sort of judge how far from picture I included above.

So you have to go into neighbors yard to get ammo...if you miss?It reaches my perimeter fence with very little drop. You can sort of judge how far from picture I included above.

I found this online:
It has a range of around 90 feet with an arc (about 30 feet with no drop)
The day before Christmas Eve I traumatized a nice couple of guys in front of me at the self checkout line at Walmart... as opposed to the usual outdoors aisle. We had every intention of making the afternoon ferry... but realized it just wasn’t going to happen. I was giving my mom instructions for putting the girls up. “And if you see the owl, the rifle is in the corner by the book cases and the ammo is on the shoe cabinet by the door... you don’t have to hit it, just scare the poop out of it!” Funny the looks you get here when you say that sort of thing
So... from point blank it’s gonna sting? Make the owl think twice about a chicken dinner....
O it stings. Like I said I use it against redtail hawks. They no longer loiter on my fence or run. They still do swing by on occasion but no one is hanging out staring at my girls any longer. The "good" thing is that it won't kill or injure them.
I have to say the biggest deterrent to hawks I have found is crows. We have a crows nest in one of our pine trees. If there is a hawk in the area they will chase after it.
I've started to actually "feed" the crows. If I get too much of something to give to the chickens like bread or meat, I put it at the base of the pine tree. The crows were recently treated to deer scraps and they loved it! I haven't seen a hawk in months.
I do have a pair of owls, but they have not bothered the chickens at all, thankfully.
