Kristen’s Chickens and Farming Ventures

I would believe it... our ravens and crows are smart like that too, luckily they are happy to just eat the chicken feed and leave the chickens be! This Owl is significantly larger than my chickens. I wish I had seen the link @BY Bob posted earlier I think they sell those or something like it at Walmart here. And we were in there today for the first and last of our Christmas shopping

I'm sorry it took me so long to put that up Kris. I would think that walmart would carry them. I got mine at Target.

We currently have a pair of owls at my place. I haven't been able to see them yet, but I do hear them every night. They start hooting around 11 and continue until 3 am or so. I can tell when they leave because my boys will crow for a few minutes or so.

Thankfully they don't crow long, I'm waiting for the neighbors to complain...:rant

I listened to the neighbor's crowing for year's, before I got some too. Now they can listen to mine crow also. I'm trying to hurry with typing this. We are getting rain, and the electric went out about an hour ago for about 20 minutes. I had to wait for it to come back on again for my second cup of coffee.

That’s not too long for the incubator, thankfully! But coffee delays are unacceptable! I quite like the sound of my boys crowing in the morning... it’s the nicest alarm clock I’ve ever had, even if they are bloody expensive with all the feed they eat .

I had hurried up and threw a towel over the top of the incubator to help hold the heat in longer, so they were ok anyway's. I had a third cup of coffee just for general principles! :gig

Just want to say to everyone, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, filled with what brings you joy and peace! It’s a beautiful time of year, whether you’re spending it with Family, Friends, or even just Quietly at home.

Two of my favorite Christmases were when I was Single and I spent them with just my cats... yes, they ate quite a lot of Turkey with me those two years! The cats got some catnip toys they are already into and a new litter box for Christmas. And the chooks are getting meal worms for breakfast tomorrow ;)

However you spend it, have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and if I don’t get online tomorrow... :hugs I want to say I really love all my wonderful chicken friends here, and don’t forget to give your flocks some lovely holiday treats as well! :D

The cats & the chooks got salmon. Everyone now somnolent...:lau:gigWe are having *American Pancakes*with maple syrup, walnuts, cream & icecream ~ our traditional Christmas breakfast & a standing joke because it's a wacked recipe because when I first made them I didn't know all purpose flour was our Plain flour so have always made them with self raising & they are rather cake~like in texture but very yum.
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!

This is going to seem silly.

This is my solution for dealing with hawks. It is illegal to kill them here in the states. This little toy gun shoots a small "soft" balls with vicious velocity. It has enough power to reach my shed from my backdoor on a line. It is accurate enough for me to knock a hawk off of my fence but is soft enough not to hurt them seriously.

This is how far away my shed is from the door.

When you said "this is my solution" Bob, I saw the photo and thought " Kris is going to need a lot of glass topped tables!" :lau

Perhaps they'll be on special after Xmas. In the mean time do you have a slingshot or tennis balls ?

Now that is funny. I never thought of that but a glass roof would help top stave them off. I wonder how many tables she would need!
