Kristen’s Chickens and Farming Ventures

I don’t know the exact parentage of my Rangers... and the ones I kept all looked basically the same as chicks, this one just doesn’t have any feathers except for the wing primaries and secondaries coming in. They also shorted her two CX for sure, so she took two of the Rangers to fill out her half of the order. I haven’t seen her chicks since they were 1 week old, so I’m not sure what they look like.
Kris, I agree with @aart something going on with that one, but it's a cx.
I don't know the make up of Rangers either, each hatchery probably has a ' proprietary recipe'...but I'd bet that there's some CX genetics in there somewhere, and we know how sneaky those genes can be popping up down the road.

Possibly...but was thinking more about the ~4 breeds they use for CX.

Yeah, I haven’t personally talked with anyone at the Hatchery... they have Dark Cornish, Red Rangers, and CX available as meat birds... the super slow feathering is odd, and it’s on the large range of the size groups in the Rangers at 4 weeks, but not where I would *expect* a CX to be. I don’t have anything else to compare it to though. There’s up to 6oz difference on either side of the average to the large Rangers and the runts... when the other Farmer gets back from vacation in California I might send her the picture to compare to her birds.

Morning Kris :frow

Morning! :frow Now apparently I’m not getting notifications on my own threads either  I guess I’m going to have to log out and log back in... assuming I can remember that password...

Kris your dog is beautiful - Border Collie ???

Not exactly mine... but yes Border Collies, all 4 of them! Delta (front)is the youngest, he will be 2 this year and we got him as payment for the Stud fee on his father Celti (back right). Celt is going on 9 or 10, I think, and is our best Herder. We also have Alice (floor) and Boots (back left), both are 13 or 14. Boots is very defensive and Alice is really feeling her age, she’s stiff with Arthritis and both are as retired as we can make them be... but they really want to help work all the time.

Good morning Kris. More progress on the house I'm guessing. You have windows, hopefully they'll be installed soon.

Aye, windows, doors, walls trusses and sheathing, building permit even (Finally!), we have it all... except for that pesky “Foundation” that it’s all supposed to go on... sigh
