They actually have more than just recipes. They have the spice mixes I used when I lived in Germany. There are some things that just don't translate well and spices are one of them. Cereal is another. I found a really good recipe for the lunch meat I want to make and literally couldn't translate any of the spices or cereal into something I could use.

On a totally separate note, do you have a good recipe for maple breakfast sausage? as well as any other sausage recipes? In a couple of weeks I'm going to have plenty of pork to work with and so wish I'd bought the pro grinder an meat mixer years ago when I could afford it. I'm also planning on liver sausage (German style) and there are a couple of German lunch meats I'd like to make if I can figure out the ingredients.

I’ll pick DH’s brain tomorrow for you! And thanks for the link @BlueBaby... going to forward that th him as well. We just do a few different recipes for the most part. Cheddar Apple, Honey Mustard, Beer Bratwurst, Italian, Breakfast, he also does a really nice one that has diced bell peppers.

Still no concrete yet, the concrete guy’s birthday was today, so fishing and drinking were his weekend priorities! I’m guessing that tomorrow is also out, on account of the drinking and it being Sunday and all soon though, it will happen before we freeze

So I thought I would share this with everyone. This is why I use chicken tractors... I’m not sure if she was feeling chilly and wanting to roost in with the Littles and Barney, or if she was (more likely) looking for scavenger rodents to make a snack of, but we returned to this after driving my mom down after dinner tonight. “OMGosh!!! Is that.... oh crap it is! Stop the car I need to see if I can get a picture!”

She started out standing on the ground looking in, but hopped up on my approach. We got within about 5’ of her before she flew off to perch on the windows about 10’ from the tractor. But my phone doesn’t like taking pictures in the dark and this was the best I could do. Our most common owl the Barred. Tractor is 2’ high for perspective.

The eggs are lovely but the owl is spectacular! I love owls.

The owl and the eggs are awesome. And the owl will gladly make a meal out of your birds. I have a couple of feathers from a Barred Owl on my desk. I like to put a few week old chickens in with day old poults to mentor them. Turkeys are really good at suicide up until they are about 8 weeks old and the chicks help prevent that. The problem that presents is the chicks raised with the turkeys will never re-join the flock and insist on staying with the turkeys. One of my cockerel mentors took on a barred owl and lost, but when the owl decided to dine, the turkeys turned the table and ate the owl. All that was left of the owl when I found it was a few bones and feathers. The cockerel was fully in tact. Seeing the owl brought back that memory.

Wow that must have been something. I believe it though. These farm next to us when I was growing up raised turkeys one year and I thought they were a little scary. I can picture them destroying an owl. That is some imgae I have now. Very interesting.

Nice eggs @Kris5902. Are those carrots in the background? LOL! Sorry, couldn't resist. The owl is awesome (as long as it stays outside the tractor).
