Kristen’s Chickens and Farming Ventures

That's ok @Kris5902 We understand that you are busy working.

Just an update for you from over here:

My 4 hen's that I kept for the larger tan, or the ones that lay the green colored egg's when I thinned down the smaller egg laying girl's to make room for the pullet grow-out's are all back to laying egg's again, and they are fertile. The 3 Barnevelder girl's should start laying later on next month. Those are supposed to lay a large brown egg.

Mine sized up a little slower than the rest of my girls, slower than my first two Marans, but faster than the current two Marans pullets are (but those girls moms were a little young and I think the chicks were a little stunted from that) not large like a production layer breed, and one of my Barnie girls eggs stayed medium until her molt. Still waiting to see how they are post molt.

I'd like to know about how your Barnie girl's do after the molt, since I have these 3 down here and it's my first time with this breed.

I love my Barnevelder Claire.. she is my screen pic on my phone ;)... she used to be my best gal and best bud.. she would hang with me the most.. but for some reason she runs from me now... and hasn’t laid an egg since probably last Spring.. if not longer:confused:... I have no idea... she will be 2 in April.. maybe it had something to do with all the new gals from last spring... she is and always has been a loner..

My remaining two RIR hens are nearly 2 and are finished with their first molt. They have both started laying again, nice large eggs. Their last eggs were in October. My three pullets (BRs) have slowed down laying, which is fine with me. They are 10 months old right now and started laying in late July. As for the subflooring getting wet; as long as it is nailed down really well and is completely dry before laying down floor boards it should be fine.

What a pretty girl. I'm sad that you two are not as close as you once were.
