Kristen’s Chickens and Farming Ventures

:lau I can imagine. We went through 15 different HR people in my last job during my employment. I had a great crew of people and most of the store loved me... well it was actually our very last HR lady when I was there who decided she wanted to work a shift or two in each department to see how the job was and what the teams were doing/facing personally.

“Ok everyone, the new HR lady is going to be coming in to work with us at 10... so let’s try to keep the harassment and questionable discussion under control for a change, please?” Managing a team with hugely varied religious/economic/and age differences is a fun challenge. That the 16 year olds liked me as much as the 60 year olds is one on my proudest things from that job.

Other favorites included a 19year old’s (our legal drinking age) house party in a rich/remote neighborhood. “Fine, yes I’ll go to your party... if you have a place for me to sleep the night” well he found one. Chatting with his grandfather over coffee the next morning was awesome. I found out where he got a lot of his work ethic from. Kid is a paramedic now.

I don't have any cat's, but one of my friend's emailed me a picture this morning that look's like 2 kitties were taking advantage of a warm place under a broody hen. Too, cute!

And update on the lack of updates...

House is basically stalled again. And the Cuba countdown has begun! Just 5 or 6 more days until a full month of being FIL free. I gave him a dozen eggs yesterday and snooped a little at our final construction plans at the same time. Going to be collecting those and planning on taking back the build and commandeering tractor as soon as he is gone. Work at the other house is basically complete, I hope, and I think I might have a lunch date for Friday! Candling my eggs tonight around 7pm Pacific Time. We have a Sausage/egg Sale this afternoon, and will be picking up some gas with the proceeds. Andrew also has a job interview for a coordinator position for $400/month this afternoon, which would be great, so fingers crossed on that. He is also going for a D&D weekend starting Friday and returning Monday. And that’s what things look like for the next week
