krstms and Potter Watch...and anyone else due to hatch around the 23rd

I put them in on the 2nd. I was counting 24 hrs as a day instead of counting the second as a day cause I put them in around noon I think. So I was considering myself on day 14. Not sure how it's supposed to be done. Oh well they're due somewhere in there.

Oh, okay. Speckledhen told me if you put them in before noon then it's day 1, after noon and it's day 0.

So we're both on day 14......COOL!

cool. I had never heard how that works. Maybe they'll have the same birthday. lol I dont know about you but this is a nail biter for me. I cant wait.

I still have ten more days. I just hope I make it that long...

Yup, I'm on day 12 here today. So 9 more days for me. I put mine in at 12:45 on the 4th so that was day 0 for me.

I expect I might end up with some late quitters though because some of these babies are starting to really fill the eggs. It is what happens when you have a Standard/Banty mix that is laid by the Banty Hen. THe eggs just aren't big enough to enclose the chicks for the entire incubation period.

I did not expect these to be mixes when I put them in, my chickens never seem to co-mingle at all.

We put ours in the incubator on the 1st, so I think we should hatch on Wednesday. This will be our third attempt (with no chicks so far) so we're very excited.

I candled and found that I was right on the questionable eggs. There was no doubt that they were not developing so I got rid of them. One was scrambled and the others had quit around days 5-7 just like the other one.

I tossed them and am down to 1 green egg that I cant see through but seems to be developing, 1 blue egg with good movement and 3 brown eggs with movement. I am hoping and praying that my green and blue eggs pull through. I bought a dozen and out of the 13 I recieved I only have these two left. Say a prayer for my chickies.

My brown ones that are from my pullets have a lot of movement. My DD says she thinks they must be roosters cause theyre hyper like their daddy roo.

So five total left and almost to lockdown. About that.. I'm not sure when to lockdown. I put them in on the 2nd somewhere between 10-12. Not real sure after thinking about it. Do I lockdown tommorrow or Tuesday. I was thinking that maybe I would turn a time or two and then lockdown after noon tomorrow. Anyone know for sure what I should do? I'm so excited I can hardly stand it.

I candled last night (didn't need to and probably shouldn't have, but I was bored). I definitely have 16 that are doing well. One that I could probably toss, and six others where I just couldn't tell. I am on day 13 and I can't wait!!! Luckily, my temperature issues seem to be ironed out.

I too was right about mine. I will be discarding them tonight. (wanted to have time to open them and learn) I candled Sat and could see the chicks starting to fill up the shell. (even through the darkest shells) Not to mention the weight difference, the ones with developing chicks feel heavier when I pick them up. The eggs I'm going to get rid of don't have the darkness starting to fill up the shell.
