I’m posting for a friend... what would cause a healthy chicken to one day emerge from the coop, seem to be tripping over its feet, not wanting to walk and then dying? He says no one else seems sick. I know, I’m going to have to find out more details but I haven’t gotten that far yet. What would be anyone’s first inclination?

Did they perform an informal necropsy?
I just read a very good article on egg binding causing paralysis. Although I don't think death would be that sudden.

If they still have the body, then see if you can help them with necropsy. Sometimes you may find something.

First inclination is Marek's or reproductive disorder.

I haven’t the first idea how to do that; even if I did I do NOT have the stomach for it. He would either have to YouTube it or take it to his vet... I’m just a big baby like that unfortunately
