Darn right Polish! I'm hoping to start showing fairly soon once I move up North. (The ONLY reason I'm excited to move north mind you..and my fiance understands that..he's so understanding!)
I just put my last batch of eggs into the incubator today. Over 2 dozen eggs...I'm 3 eggs over the "limit" for the incubator, but I figure in 3 days I'll be able to tell which ones are infertile and which ones are still good and I can rotate the other eggs in. Why waste right?
The last hatch has nothing but black x white, blue x white and blue x blue. The blue x blue are a brother/sister breeding and I seem to have several quitters with them. The one chick I've gotten from the breeding is very promising. She's maybe 3 days old now? Cute little thing. Seems like I only got one pullet from the whites, cockerels all the way around. I doubt I'll be keeping any white cockerels. Just don't have enough "umph" to them whereas the splits seem to be rupturing with potential thanks to the added blood. I'm keeping very close tabs on which ones are splits and which aren't so that it won't mess up the pure Forrest birds.
Kind of sad that this is the end of the road for this year for me. I've got 2 definite orders, one is filled and waiting for the boxes to get here and the next one I'm gathering eggs for. I'm having to move my birds thanks to people trying to force me into contracts/purchase agreements at the place where I had them so I am moving them to a friend's place. Their place is a ways away from me so I am not sure if eggs will be available after these two orders. Just depends I suppose. When we move North I will probably be able to fulfill some orders depending on when my hens quit. The lights for them will be disappearing in another week though.
Sorry, I'm rambling, just kind of upset at what people can start being greedy about...
