Actually, you could use the white male also. The white is recessive in Langshans. It will act as a black when bred to a blue bird. 50% chicks will be black, 50% blue. All chicks will carry a recessive white gene. When bred to each other they have the ability to produce white chicks.
I got this bird by accident as a day old- wasn't even sure what it was, but was in a lot of hatchery chicks I took for a friend. Turns out, it's a hatchery langshan, at least that's what I am thinking from pictures. Right?
I am assuming it's a POL pullet - but it's HUGE compared to my other non-langshan pullets. S/he is almost 6 months old and just sprouted the combs and wattles about a month ago, but they sure do have bushy tails. Very pretty birds. I have two of these, almost alike, except one doesn't have as much comb/wattle. What do you folks think? POL pullet or extra late blooming roo? If it's a girl, it's possible that she is laying, but I haven't caught him/her/it in a nestbox yet.
