Laree's "I CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM HATCHING!!!" Hatch-a-long

Did I mention my eggs got toasted?

Don't you just love that?! When my orps first started laying last fall, they were doing it everywhere except the nest boxes we had made. So, I got the brilliant idea to use fake eggs. I have these 3 large eggs that have like an antiqued crackled-type glaze on them, that usually are in a vintage egg basket on the fridge. So, without telling Dale, I put them up there. When I came home later that day, he met me in the driveway with this really puzzled look and pulled out the 3 fake eggs. He says "Honey, look at these weird eggs!" I laughed so-o-o-o hard that I couldn't even explain why I was laughing.

When I was finally able to tell him, he says, with a sheepish look "Okay, guess I'll put 'em back." Gotta love him!

Needless to say, the girls got the idea and started using the boxes.

Awww, love Pip! And all the blues! My first blue ameraucanas are due to hatch on the 31st. They were shipped eggs, and on day 8, 20 out of 20 looked good. Haven't candled again since.

I haven't given the update on my hatch I apologize. My hubby is away at work and I have been busy taking care of things. My workload is high and he will be back in a couple weeks. I've been kind of lonely, also.

So 11 of 12 of my american onagadori hatched. The twins did not make it, neither of the delaware twins. One was almost fully developed and one quit about a week in.
All but 1 RIR hatched but one hatched without a skull so I had to cull it.

Right now I have an incubator going into lockdown tomorrow with 15 runner duck eggs and one goose egg.
Plus 2 incubators full of chicken eggs and one full of goose. After these couple of hatches, its back to only chickens for me.
Waterfowl are just so precious but they sure do stink the brooder fast

The 8 goslings I got from my hatch a couple weeks ago. It was a 100% hatch woot!
I actually sold 4 of them, then traded them back for soap... funny story... and now they are being trained as weeders. I will keep 2 and hopefully sell the rest as weeders. I am not looking to dramatically increase my goose population around here.

So that is my update... gosh, I am so tired... I've got my hands full with just the kids, let alone all the birds. Someone send me some strength to last another 2 weeks.

It's the little things... now I have to make my own coffee...

I want one! What is the parentage? Do you have eggs?!

We hatched her last summer. She is a cross between a white showgirl roo and an easter egger. She lays standard green eggs. : ) Currently she lays nothing as she is fiercly brooding over 7 eggs!

Had 1 India Blue peachick hatch this morning.

I would love to see your peachick!

Now 5/9 have hatched, four Silvers and 1 Wheaten. I've got another pipped Silver, but it pipped down on the side of the egg.

We'll see how it does.
Since this is a hatching thread...
