Large Fowl Cochin Thread

Getting my LF BBS Cohins today. They should be at the house when I get home from work.
I haven't seen too many cochins in the state of Arkansas, but if there are they are staying hidden.

Well I'll just have to wait about 9 to 12 months for these to start laying.

Lazy J's. He's out in Saline County. Known him for several years.



I've not seen too many Cochins at the swaps and sales so I didn't think many people had them, maybe they are just collectors.

Wow, I had to look a few pages back to find this thread! Just thought I would share a few recent pics of my sweet Cochins

Hello from New Zealand. we dont have Cochins as such but we ( well one guy mainly ) have spent the last 20 yrs trying to redevelop the breed over here & i am the proud owner of a few & im trying to breed them. i was hoping that someone here will have a copy of the standard of perfection that they would scan & email me so i can better select my breeders. i know this is a big ask but we dont have our own yet ( hopefully next year )

I posted these pictures on the Cochin thread and was advised to come to the LF Cochin thread for help in confirming which of these birds hatched Jan 27 and Feb 22 are attempting to crow. These are from eggs from Jim Heinz from Iowa and are really sweet birds. The little d'Anvers that is in the pen with them is a roo, but someone else in the pen is making roo noises.
I've narrowed it down to these two. The blue on the left and the splash on the right. None in the pen have very big wattles yet but these have darker pink ones.



I'll post a picture of the pullets too. I'm thinking all of these are pullets. They like to "purr" and cuddle too much to be boys.





Hope someone can help. I know the LF cochins are hard to determine sex since the mature slower that other LF breeds.

I have 10 babies hatched from Bo Garret's blues and two of his gorgeous white hens. I also have a Blue Roo and Blue hen from Carl Jarvis breed line.

I'm guessing the Splash is but I'm unsure on the other. I've had a few pullets from this line trick me.

I'd guess either of the splashes too but compared to the few I've gotten/seen they all look like pullets. Very lovely, I'd love to have some nice looking blues.
