Large Fowl Cochin Thread

Pics
Hi all!! I am really enjoying looking at all of your lovely birds!

My very first LF cochin (B/B/S) eggs are in the mail to me at the moment and I just can't wait to have peeps! I got my first bantam cochins (mf) a few month back and have totally fallen for the breed! I will admit to being a tad nervous about having a LF roo, but we will see how it goes...

Any how, I plan on reading back through the thread and learning as much as I can! Hopefully babies for Christmas!

Is there such thing as a large fowl cuckoo cochin (black barring)

Yes there is, it is just called a barred Cochin. There are a few breeders and even a hatchery that sell them. Although I would not suggest a hatchery for this color. I have one and I am not overly impressed, very muddled barring . My hatchery Dominique has better barring and even then I am not a fan of that barring.

There is at least one person on here that I know of that has a website that sells eggs and day olds.

Would you please pm me with their info??

NanaKat,
The main problem with blues is that they tend to have inconsistent color, out of two nicely laced, lead blue birds you may get birds that are powder blue to nearly black. He is the best colored of the three in my opinion and I would use him over some good black hens or blue hens if you desire to have splash birds as well as blues and blacks. He is a nice cockerel and will mature out very nicely.
Hope to see you in Shawnee this weekend.

Bo
