Large Fowl Cochin Thread

Hello cochin folks! I adopted this fellow a few months back from a fellow BYC member. Does this coloration have a name? He hatched from a batch of Acechix's "blue, black and splash" eggs. He's about 6 months old and so still a skinny teenager, though his crop is very full in these photos.

He's very pretty and super sweet and mellow.

Well, he is neither Black nor Blue nor Splash. I think you had better have a talk with "acechix" as to what else she has running around there. I have seen similar from Black crossed with GLCs. It looks kinda like a Brown red but probably doesn't have the correct genes to breed true.

He is the progeny from a hen that I hatched from a breeders black cochins flock. Seems he was working with Red Browns as well.

The hen developed the slightest red in her neck beyond her 2nd year. I contacted all persons who could have gotten eggs from her to let them know. (did you get eggs directly from me? My sale book is at home)

That hen is now with someones flock who is also working with red brown cochins.

He is a bit upright...but handsome.

Thank you! I don't mind.. I think he's very pretty. I just wondered if this pattern/color had a name or not. :) Since I don't breed, I actually like him more than a normal black or splash. I adore his personality and how gentle he is. I adopted him from someone here who hatched out too many roos for her flock. I'll PM you. :)
