Large Fowl Crele Project...

I'm breeding my guy to (Polish) to a Gold Laced to get more red in the wings. Can I also breed him to buff laced? I know that won't add red to his coloring, but my buff laced are a lot larger than my gold. She's just too small for him, afraid he's going to crush her. Plus, she doesn't want to breed. He rapes the hens :( Pretty, but a very bad boy (flogs, bites). I'm hoping to to a male chick to replace him!! I have some due to hatch Tuesday.

Hi- I bought both of the chicks as (crele). I have some that are this light color (older, not so photogenic ), and about 5 little ones that are this dark color. Which is correct? Thanks!

Very funny, I just found this pic of my Malines rooster here. This guy is close to 15 lbs. Comparing to a Cuckoo Marans is maybe understandable judging just from the picture. In reality Malines dwarf that breed. I once bought a Marans rooster to breed in some new blood. He physically wasn't capable of breeding some of my hens .... I like Marans too. I breed Black Coppers here as well.

Maybe this picture is more illustrative. Right behind the same rooster you'll see an Ameraucana hen. Just reaching the hight of his back.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Bart Nagel

The gentleman who has the web site has answered my e-mail and included some photos and a link to the breed:

here is his photos sent:

And this is one of his cock birds:

Wow...looks like a Silver Cuckoo to me, anyone else think so too ?

Hi there, I just came across this thread and I'm hoping to get some advice on my Rooster here. He is one of my crossbreeds, I think his dad might have been our NHR but not 100% sure. I'm wondering what would be the next best step to take in order to improve the Crele colouring in his offspring? I'm not looking at showing or breeding I just really love his colouring. But in saying that which would be the best breed to put him or his offspring with in the future?

Yes ! He is one very hunky man chicken !
Just curious, how do the S/T's do up there in the Great White North ?
Any frostbite issues ?
Do you have to keep them locked up during cold spells ?

I am almost ready.................to start breeding 1) a Crele X Black Copper Marans Cockerel............who is crele and has a more vivid coloration than the Crele Chantcler...................(who was his father)

and 2) the Crele Chantecler to the R/C LBLs.............maybe try a few DBLs also just to check the coloration on chicks.
The DBLs have a black breast, so?????

What a quiz, huh ?
This is me myself quoting me myself with a bizarre follow up:
Bred the Crele Chantecler (Albertan ) to Partridge hens, and get a 50%- WHITE chicks and 50% Chipmunk chicks offsprings !!!!!!!!!!!
WEIRD !!!!!!!!!!!
Then I bred the MaransXCrele Chantecler (Albertan) (Son of cock mentioned above and a Black copper marans) to a herd of R/C Light Brown Leghorns...and getting chipmunk babies.

Surprises !

How are the "large fowl crele projects" coming along? I just got a Dominique rooster to cross on my hens, some of which are partridge and most of which are a cross of Welsummer and Wyandotte. I am hoping to get the Crele color out of the partridge hens but of course you never know. I wanted the pea comb and the higher tail carriage as well as the cold hardiness of the Dominique's, although I have wondered if the wavering bars may not show the Crele color as well as some other types. Dominiques have fairly nice "fly tying" feathers as well. I would probably be in the market for some hatching eggs next year if anyone has anything with the Crele color mixed with the higher tail carriage and (hopefully), the pea comb.
