I know what you are going through as I may be facing something very similar. I still don't know for sure yet. I envy your strength and attitude. I have not been nearly as at ease about the whole thing. It terrifies me

I wish you luck and am sending prayers up that you have a successful surgery and that everthing goes without complication

I had the same thing about 6 years ago... Mine was one of the tooth hair-y things (can I say Ickkkky!) a little bigger than a grapefruit.

Everything worked out just fine, as I am SURE yours and Pumpkinpup's will!

After surgery it was about 6 months before I felt like a human being again. I didn't realize that I hadn't before because of the creature in my belly. My incision was about 7-8 inches.

Anyway, DO NOT WORRY! I can safely say 6 years later I don’t even EVER think about it anymore. They left my 'parts' because I was in my early 20's and they thought I might want them later. You may be thinking... oh but she was so young... that's why she is just fine. My 57 year old mother just had the same thing... and they took all her 'parts' and she bounced back quicker than I did.

Don't get me wrong the first few weeks are the worst. And I do mean the WORST. So prepare yourself... but it WILL pass.

Good luck, you will be in my prayers.

If either of you ever need a 'I used to have a large mass on my ovaries' buddy... let me know!

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts everybody. I think it bothers DH more than it bothers me. I just wonder how long it will be before I can ride my horse again!! I'm kind of looking forward to it because I'm taking off work for a week and a half. I'll actually get to sit at home all alone in the peace and quiet in my pajamas. Nobody will expect anything of me. I have never gotten to do that before. I have visions of watching NCIS and the history channel all day long while I work on my quilts with my little dog sitting next to me. My cell phone will be conveniently broken at the same time.

It would be the best decision you will make! My sis and mom had it and they are without their spare parts LOL!

As for me, the lucky one, have problems with cysts and my OB doc wont take it out until it gets to be a very big problem.

I had a hyster a year ago, left my ovaries. I had a mammoth fibroid. That surgery was the best thing I have done in years. Of course, I was over 40 with no more kids in my future. I had mine done on Friday morning. I was walking the halls of the hospital Saturday morning, gone by lunch on Sunday. It was a piece of cake for me.

Good luck Jody! My mom had her surgery done 21 years ago. I don't remember how long her recovery was, but I do remember the dr. warned that she might have cravings similar to pregnancy. She had me running all over the neighborhood for fudgepops. You could use this to your benefit, by having chocolate and ice cream delivered to you! I have a few penny-sized cysts as well, but dr says as long as they aren't changing, we'll leave them alone. She says they're the hereditary kind, is yours?
