Large, Open-Air Coop in Central NC

PS. Yes, you see it right. There are no hinges or latches on that door yet. He didn't have the ones he thought he had where he thought he had them so if he doesn't have them in his other stuff we'll have to buy them. But the door is fitted.

There are going to be some small blocks to act as shelf supports instead of chains since we're not happy with the chain on the Little Monitor Coop's nest door.

Oops, forgot the picture of the ridiculous over-framing. :D

Looks like something my husband built, lol...

We both come from a long line of over-engineerers.

His older brother literally designed airport facilities and, at home, build a deck strong enough to land a helicopter on it.

My father figured that anything that wasn't built to last 100 years was a temporary make-do.

I completely get it, my husband used to do cabinetry, commonly heard phrase when he is building something, "a few more screws/nails won't hurt anything". :lau

We've decided what to do for the material to hold the bedding inside the wire and keep it off the wood so that the composting deep litter reaction doesn't eat the posts.

We'll take these sheets, which seem tough enough that while I *could* drive a pitchfork through it I'm not likely to do so accidentally, rip them into 12" widths, and fasten them up against the wire between the posts.

But first we'll wrap the posts in metal roof flashing.

Oh! that's a good idea! I'm working on the coop as well, and that is something I was looking for. Polyethene in sheets is kinda hard to find. I haven't had any luck.

Thank you for sharing, this helps me immensely! My fall back was to cover the floor with linoleum.
