Yeah, he's a muscovy though, and I think he and the hens are all in the right weights. And the mallard derived birds are at least the same size as the scovy hens for the most part too. I know he really liked breeding the Pekin, since she was a nice size for himIs there a big size difference? I think you said Moose was large?
Okay, if it's a scovie breeding a quacker, those have very low fertility. I ended up with a few 'mules' this year but nowhere near as many as the pure scovies and quackers.Yeah, he's a muscovy though, and I think he and the hens are all in the right weights. Yeah, he isn't as picky about the girls he climbs on as the Swedish is, but I know he also is going on top of the scovy hens too. I think my Swedish is avoiding the scovy though, he mostly goes with the Rouen and khaki from what I've seenOkay, if it's a scovie breeding a quacker, those have very low fertility. I need to get my pens built before I can seperate them for more than a couple days. I hadn't considered that though. They seem like they get along, honestly I see more anger from my scovy hens towards the mallard derived hens than from my boys to each other, lolAny possibility of splitting them up? Scovies are really, ah, *driven*. He might be preventing the Swedish from finishing the task.
I actually tossed mine out of the pen this year as it was a constant battle between them and my Aylesbury drake. So one of them decided to mount my juvenile Pilgrim Goose. He did this twice, after breaking into their pen, and he is now in the freezer. Made the decision of who to cull easier.
I will add though that if I end up without enough girls, the pastel male will go before the pied does. But the pastel has a really nice bill so I'd like to hold onto him until I know if these Littles are male's or femaleOn the bright side, I picked my current Call keepers. I'm hoping for my Littles to both be hens, but right now I have a pied male and a pastel pair
