Last unread post not working right

Do you use the little black dot in your unread watched list to get back to the last page of posts that you read?

Okay, I am confused, I thought clicking on the bolded blue thread title was the same as clicking on the dot.

I click the name, but as stated above, the name and the black dot SHOULD do exactly the same thing since it's the same URL. I also get the ones where if I haven't been on there in a while it will drop me off on the 1st page, but then I can click the "first unread" button on the 1st page and it pops me to the right spot.

I haven't been seeing other people report this problem, so I'm guessing it's isolated to a specific browser or setup or something else.

Also, if clicking the same URL from different locations is resulting in different Behavior or different pages, then that would also suggest that it's a browser or configuration or something else issue.

If anybody else is experiencing this, please respond with the browser and version you were using

I also get the ones where if I haven't been on there in a while it will drop me off on the 1st page,

I get this if it's a really old thread, like one that hasn't been posted to since before the conversion.

Okay, so I just duplicated @Kusanar's problem. It is an old thread and my last post to it was July of 2017. Today someone replied to it and when I clicked it took me to page one, not to the last read.

Thread it happened with:

This happened on my old iPad I running Safari.

I will check on the computer too in an hour or so.

I just finished looking through my "unread watched threads" and there are a whole bunch where the bolded blue title does not default to /unread, it goes to page one instead. I was under the impression that the bold titles were always supposed to go to the last read post.

I use fiefox at home, IE at work, and my kindle fire, whatever browser that uses.

I haven't tried the dot as I just found it and honestly, it's not easy to click on on mobile since it's so small, the larger words are much easier to click. But, if the words should either take you to the 1st post (not a problem, I don't mind that) or the last unread, then that is fine as long as it doesn't drop me 30+ pages from where I'm supposed to be.

Ok, this is happening again and just happened to me on another thread. I started reading this thread earlier https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/bamboo-leaves-as-food.1343017/ and only read the first page of posts. went to the thread and it took me back to the first page, ok, that's weird as the link that I clicked has /unread at the end of it. Then, when I clicked the go to new button it took me to the LAST page when it should have taken me to the 2nd page.

At least now I can send myself PM's so I can mark my place now...

I have only actually read the first page, maybe 2, but when I click go to new it takes me to post 154...

This happens annoyingly often and since I am one of the (apparently) rare people on the forum that likes to read from the beginning of even long threads it drives me nuts when the system loses my place like that.

Are you by any chance accidentally clicking on the last page of the thread?
once you click on the very last page of the thread that's where the unread is going to take you to no matter if you've read it all or not.

OhMan!! I've done that more times than I can count!!!
Kinda glad the 'jump to new' button is not near the page buttons anymore.
