Lavender olive Eggers

Hi there I just hatched two eggs that are from my lavender olive eggers and look what I got…… they look like olive eggers for sure not lavender….. y is that? I thought they would be lavender hehehehehe I’m totally wrong.

Do you have photos of both parents? I assume the little Silkie mix is the broody mama.
Two lavender can only produce lavender, unless one of your lavenders is actually blue. Then you could get black chicks from this cross.😊

They certainly look lavender in the photo. The one in the back may be blue? It would be impossible for two lavenders to produce a black chick so one must be blue.
Or do you have other hens that potentially could be the mother? Your rooster definitely looks lavender as well.🤔
Blue can range from so light that it looks lavender too so dark that it looks black. Many blue are self laced and often have a bit darker feathering around the head and neck, where lavender will be more a uniform silvery color over the entire bird.
 
Honestly they could be sugars……picture below she’s n EE /austrlorop. We have 6 in there only two have hatched today …..and I pulled sugars fertile egg to compare today after she laid….n the two which we thought were our lavenders that hatched shells I got also n The two that hatched look the same but are off in color from sugars….. I guess tomorrow I will make sure to update….. we have 3 more brown eggs under kiwi still to go.

Her dad is an EE she might be a wyandotte not australorp I got her from a friend. We thought we only out one of her in the batch lol time will tell I suppose. I may be wrong again I just get so excited ! I sat there all day watching it’s soooooo fun!!!! N kiwi our silky is such a great mama it’s our first time

Barred hen crossed with lavender rooster will give you black pullet chicks and barred cockerel chicks (sex-linked).😊

Wow your awesome !! ok than ummm I am for sure getting back to you tomorrow ! Sex linked means I would know if I had female n male at what age? They are only one day right now and I’ll examine them more n take better pics tomorrow.
