So, we got a lavender Orpington chick a few weeks ago named Maggie. She is currently 3 weeks old and is living with an Easter egger hatched on a similar date. We are a little concerned about her since she is so small. I have heard that lavender Orpingtons are a slow feathering breed, but it still concerns me. She is small for a 3 week old chick and has bad balance. To add onto that, she falls asleep in our hands all the time. Other then that she eats and drinks normally. No bloody or runny stool at all. Are we just being paranoid or is there a real reason for concern?

Our lavender Orpington is the smallest of our chicks, too. No advice, but I thought it was a bit strange too. She seems healthy though and is feathering faster than our Easter eggers that are twice our lavender orpington’s size. Ours are almost 3 weeks.

Thanks. I was afraid it was a failure to thrive case 😬 but it seems like it's just a common thing with these little lavender babies. 😊
