Lavender Orpington Thread

Im excited!! Now my lone SLW chick will have friends! Lol im also running out of chicken coops/runs! I moved the SSHs out of the grow out pen (was using it as a breeding pen) and gave them a nice 10x10 run! Which should be like paradise for them cause theres only 3 lol.
But once the LOs get big ill need another pen!

Candled eggs last night. 42 total, 40 are on target, and only 2 are iffy. so many chickies

14 of these eggs are shipped and are lavender opringtons.. couldnt believe it

I am thinking about buying 6 lavender Orpington hens. They said they were hatched late last summer and haven't started laying yet. Does that sound right? When do most lavenders start laying? It seems late to me. We just want them as family chickens, but we want healthy hens that will lay.

I don't know, sometimes it takes longer for hens to start laying. Two of my Lavenders haven't started laying yet.

One of them is almost 8 months old! The other one is almost 5 months old!
