I got some lavender Wyandotte chicks from a breeder and their feathers look horrible! They are currently 3 weeks old and I can already tell their feathers are going to be a problem. I knew true lavenders sometimes have feather fraying issues but I don’t know to much about what causes it and how to correct it if possible. I heard you can breed them to black and get splits and then breed the splits back to the lavender and get half lavender chicks that should have improved feathers but I wasn’t sure if it was true or not. So is there a way to improve their offsprings feather quality? I’m honestly trying to decide if it’s worth my time trying to correct it if there is a way.
