Well girl I've been following your mini drama for days!!! Never have I been so impressed with a persons dedication
and love..... you have gone so above and beyond that something else wonderful is happening infront of all of
your followers. The overwhelming responses of all of us sharing your pain, prayers, and smiles....Its the love and
support of all your Backyard Chicken friends. Such wonderful advise and support. there was a post recently
and chickerdoodle put it out its an amazing site called poultry podiatry..it has all kinds of breakdowns, and explanations
for bad feet and legs, u may find something helpful for Kubotas leg. Good luck and keep the news coming!

Here is one w/o wheels. I was going to put lawnmower wheels on it, but never got the chance. i put a handle on the back so i didn't have to bend down to move him around. I attached a feeder also. My first one was using the Kitty Jungle gym too, had all the parts ....

That is an awesome sling....

Quick reality check: I am single, no kids, on vacation (HAHAHAHA) from my job and , unfortunately I have no life!

When I committed to trying to help Kubota, I agreed with a PM I received - "in for a penny, in for a pound". I have to have limits on on $$, time and effort - fortunately, because of my situation, I have not reached those (getting close - back to work tomorrow).

NOW on to the important stuff!!

I have a confession. After lunch, I took a nap. Of course it rained and wet all of the Kubota's towels I had hanging on the fence "to dry". I went to the store and stayed dry, but of course it rolled in another storm while I was working on Kubota. So I have not yet dusted him, in fact, I haven't wrapped his leg *sigh*
Hopefully it will blow over soon - ever since I got stuck in the (tin) barn for a major lightning storm about 3 weeks ago, I prefer to be inside

This is during "hydrotherapy" (I love that) - his leg has regained some yellow, but you can see the nasty chunk

There is his one remaining toe, the chunk, and to the back a stub of toe and I guess a nub of spur??

this isn't what I was originally talking about for the sling, but I think with some hacksaw adjustments it would work? I especially like the net part, to help dry his underside after washing

if I turn it upside down and cut the poles to chicken leg length?

That is an awesome sling and idea. Your dedictation to this boy is amazing. I hope he heals well and becomes able to move about some on his own or with some help.

I have seen and done a lot of oddball things, and chickens seem to survive what others would not. I think his leg looks good...for a chicken...a mower mauled chicken...
you are doing a great job.

Those black spots on his leg may be necrosing/dying tissue. Don't be surprised if he loses some tissue over then next few weeks. What's important is what he is left with when he's done healing. As long as he's got enough to get around on, he should do fine. Does he have any pieces of bone sticking out that could get caught on something? This may sound gross, but if he does, you may want to cut it off, say, with a clean set of dog nail clippers. Better to take care of it now, while he is on antibiotics and you are keeping the wound clean, then have him catch it on something later. Chances are if bone is exposed, there is little or no feeling left in that area. If there is, well, it's one quick clip. Just a suggestion.
