Lazy or Pratical...??

nah, lazy is what I used to do - just eat it out of the jar

it was easier than leaving the dorms to walk to the dining hall when there was a ton of work to be done

It's not economical and it is a bit wasteful, with all those little cups...but as for changing oil, that is kind of a complex job. You need a few tools and the oil does get messy. But washing a little tupperware container takes a few seconds under hot water and if you're gonna do dishes that night anyway. If she was using a stack of coupons then she could have saved some money by just buying the bigger jars. Oh well, my criticisms are over.

I hate washing peanut butter out've things, like the measuring cup, if I'm baking. This always get eyed.. As for changing the oil, easy peasy, to be done at home.. I just buy it, and filter. Put on kitchen counter and tell hubby it needs to be done. No sweat

Easy peasy!

***off subject**

I was busy one time, my wife needed to put a quart of oil
in the car.

She used a little funnel from the kitchen and poured the quart
down the dipstick tube.

She doesn't know much about cars...

Spook

Least you didn't say she used veggie oil. Even I KNOW that Canola is the best for the job.

I have one daughter who loves to eat PB just by itself. I'll scoop it out of the jar with a knife and send it in her lunch. i use a small, square plastic container. I found the containers 8 for about $3 somewhere. She looses the lids often, probably in the garbage can. But, for that price, I can handle it. I figure I spend about $.10 each for this snack. Compared to $.75 or so for the pre-packaged PB. Plus, throwing out all that extra packaging makes me cringe.

I am busy. 3 little ones 5 and under. 2 in school. I teach 2x's a week. Remodeling a house. So, I do use some convenience items. I buy gas wherever is closest, don't have time to drive to the cheapest place. I hire contractors instead of do jobs we could do ourselves because our time is worth more than we pay them.
But, there are some things that take so little time that I love to do to save money. I make my own yogurt. I package my own peanut butter into little containers. I pack my girls' lunches and cook ours at home. I cook dinner from scratch most nights.

i guess it's all how each individual person chooses to look at it through their own eyes in their own family life.

I'm not sure how things work where you all are but here in Wegmans in NY items will have a sign with the price and it will give you the price per pound or per 100 cups or whatever. And if for instance it's toilet paper the smaller package will give you the price per roll or what ever and the larger package will give your the price per roll which is usually three or four cents cheaper per roll.

Cat litter is per pound and the larger container is cheaper per pound and you make the choice. I have to pay more because I can't lift those bigger containers to save 3 cents a pound.

In this house we spend a lot of time doing things and Lord have mercy DW is tired when she gets up for work after doing what ever it is she does. I say for her I'll pay for the convenience of grabbing it and going. We don't have a dish washer ( well me usually) but that's a lot of soap and water and time.

So like I said lazy may have nothing to do with it.

Such is life,

Rancher
