Lazy or Pratical...??

I wouldn't automatically jump to lazy (although I would just plop a spoonful in a container myself). I think for her it was probably more convenience. Also, perhaps she has rather bad time management skills. Running out the door in the morning and being super busy once home. If money isn't an issue for her, she would have no qualms purchasing the cups and tossing as she goes. And being bad at time, one less dish to deal with is probably a win-win in her way of thinking.

Oh, and our stores in MI do the price breakdown thing, too.

It's not economical and it is a bit wasteful, with all those little cups...but as for changing oil, that is kind of a complex job. You need a few tools and the oil does get messy. But washing a little tupperware container takes a few seconds under hot water and if you're gonna do dishes that night anyway. If she was using a stack of coupons then she could have saved some money by just buying the bigger jars. Oh well, my criticisms are over.

I hate washing peanut butter out've things, like the measuring cup, if I'm baking. This always get eyed.. As for changing the oil, easy peasy, to be done at home.. I just buy it, and filter. Put on kitchen counter and tell hubby it needs to be done. No sweat

Easy peasy!

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty rude to call her lazy because she wants individual size servings of peanut butter. Who doesn't get tired of doing something over and over.

NOTHING wrong with taking a short-cut if you want to, and if you can afford it...
She probably doesnt have to worry about money so much like the rest of us do...
Good for her..

Inquisitive or judgemental?

I can't decide.... but if I could, it wouldn't affect me, or another living creature, anyway, so what's the point?

I am probably one if the silliest young adults you could meet... and everywhere I go.. I leave a trail of people with slightly confused, slightly amused, slightly perturbed looks on their faces.... I think it's good for them.
If we are going to worry about excesses of packaging so much, let's look at the boxes we are confining our minds to.... accept that everyone is different.

Have you the look on your face yet?

I love this peanut butter thread because, frankly, I love peanut butter. I remember in the 1950s, when it first came over from the US. My mum had to be persuaded long and hard to buy some, she thought it a very unsavoury product (no pun intended!). I have never done anything but spread it on bread, and peanut butter sandwiches are as far as my limited imagination has taken me. Now, thanks to you guys, I have a variety of new ways of eating it!! I like the idea of using it as a dip, with carrots sticks etc. And I fully intend to explore the notion of cooking with it. First of all though, I am going to eat it straight from the jar, with a teaspoon, i'm drooling over the keyboard. Mummy would not approve methinks!!!

Well I will admit to buying juice boxes or small water bottles. They are way more expensive than bottling my own,but the kids don't like the risk of a leak on their foods. I lose on that, but save on other things. I don't mind the washing of all the containers.
To each their own,but given the limited space for garbage dumping I hope that the containers are atleast the type of plastic that breaks down quicker.

I have come across a few nice parks, playgrounds, and shopping centers built over garbage dumps.Maybe they are trying to prove how safe they are,but the one with the stores had to close due to methane(sp?) and stink in all the stores.

Convenience has a cost. For many it does not matter since the garbage dumps are not by them, but if they were would it affect how they shopped and recycled? Maybe that lady would buy bulk and wash those containers if she had to dump her jiff eat and dump plastic in her own yard.

I love making a peanut sauce that is used in various asian and indian meals. Some North Africa stews are good too.

I would bet that every single one of you posting here pays a little extra for convenience at some point or another. Each one of us is free to choose what convenience we are willing to pay for.

I make my own laundry soap. About $1 for 2 gallons. For me, I'd rather make my own and save, but I do not criticize those of you who would rather pay $20 a gallon for Tide because it is more convenient. Your money, your time, your choice.

Speaking of laundry, I choose that electric washer and drier. It would be much more economical to wash the clothes in a tub of water and hang them on the line, but I can afford to not have to do that.

I'd rather pay for expensive gasoline than to walk. I know how to walk. It's lots cheaper, but I will pay for the convenience, thank you very much.

I pay for convenience and so does every single one of you. You've all chosen to pay more for many items that are more convenient, so I don't see where any of you have any room for name calling because someone you don't even know is paying a couple of dollars that she can obviously afford for a convenience item.

A couple of dollars? How many of you are paying $100 a month for cable TV or a cell phone? Talk about spending money on a convenience, and not a cheap one, either. If the woman wants single serving peanut butter to take in her lunch, then that is her choice.

Those individual servings are great for lunches, I guess. I'd rather be practical, buy in bulk, and wash a few containers. I had problems with my granddaughter eating last summer, because she was used to eating prepackaged food. She wouldn't eat pudding I made because it wasn't in a little plastic cup. Didn't like kool-aid pured out of a pitcher, she wanted the single servings. Would not eat oatmeal if she saw my making it, because it didn't come out of a envelope. She ate it just fine, if she didn't see me fix it. When did people get to lazy to make pudding and kool-aide?
