So you're saying that Splits will appear black.LavenderXLavender:
100% Lavender
LavenderxBlack:
100% Splits
LavenderxSplit:
50% Split
50% Lavender
BlackxSplit:
50% Split
50% Black
SplitxSplit
25% Black
50% Split
25% Lavender
*Split and Black will look the same*
And then you add other colors to the lavender pool to get things like porcelain, blue cream and Isabel
Jacin just showed the offspring you would get using lavender and black birds, but a bit of basic info, lavender (also known as self blue) is a recessive black dilute gene.I love, love love lavender birds. Would you mind elaborating?
Yep, because lavender is a recessive gene, it will only be expressed when the bird carries two copies. Splits are birds which only carry one copy.So you're saying that Splits will appear black.

Thanks, forgot to add thatJacin just showed the offspring you would get using lavender and black birds, but a bit of basic info, lavender (also known as self blue) is a recessive black dilute gene.
Question- If you have a lavender and a black parent, will all offspring appear black? Or is there a chance that there will be lavender?Yep, because lavender is a recessive gene, it will only be expressed when the bird carries two copies. Splits are birds which only carry one copy.
Question- If you have a lavender and a black parent, will all offspring appear black? Or is there a chance that there will be lavender?
If the black parent does not carry any lavender genes, all offspring will be black. If the black parent carries one lavender gene (split), 50% of the offspring will be lavender.Question- If you have a lavender and a black parent, will all offspring appear black? Or is there a chance that there will be lavender?
That is correct.I thought just 100% split, probably wrong![]()
