Leghorns -19 weeks to first eggs

@aart I wanted to respond over here to keep from getting off topic in another thread, as we all enjoy being off topic here!

I'm so excited to see what kind of bird I bought, my 4 month roo is now just 1 city away! He could be a black or a blue sumatra! I am really hopefully he has good genes but I did like the looks of this breeders other birds on the Sumatra Thread(H&H Longtails).

To be honest I am hoping for Blue and healthy after spending 48 hours in a box! As to my understanding they will produce 25% blue offspring to give me more genetics to experiment with.

That submissive crouching with wings spread my hens have been doing was really creeping me out and thank you for the behavioral lesson!

Well he just arrived and I got a good cardio workout wrangling the guy as the moment the box was open he took to the wing! He introduced himself to the flock and my current lowwoman gave him a proper a$$ kicking.

---edit--
My initial impression is I really like his face he has greyish comb and wattles but I bet he will brighten up after a couple of days of eating and drinking after his 50+ hour shipping ordeal.

Also he is a purely Black Sumatra roo:( guess my Mr. Bigtime Breeder plans are on hold.

Oh yeah just found my second egg this time in the quiet part of the coop on the hay! I'm not super eggsited about it as I will have to figure out how to divide a 40 gram egg three ways between three dogs.

When I was selling marijuana as a youth I think 28 grams is about an ounce for reference.

---------edit-------------

I didn't want @RUNuts confused about the size of eggs I am getting.

@aart I am so grateful that you share your knowledge, my wife and I discussed the "squatting" issue and what I had learned from you. Going forward we are going to be taking advantage of the squats to get the girls more used to being handled, so butt scratches will be administered(Kathrin my wife wants pet chicken).

Still the fact that they are squatting like that just creeps me out, but as you said they fan their feathers once you stop and do a good shake(to spread the insemination). Thank you for such a spot on description of the behavior.

Pulling a @RUNuts here but I am up to 2 eggs today! One is off peach the other is simply off white. Regardless my pups are going to eat good tonight! One was still warm when collected(a first in my life for a non hardboiled egg). I had created a thread about that damn egg song, but man they make me run out as I think they are in distress, and they probably are I can't imagine an object that size relative to their size either exiting or entering my poor gals bodies.
